Anemia in children under five years old and its relation to individual characteristics and maternal education, 2017
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-09-10) Pinchi Flores, Romelia; Lozada Urbano, Michelle
Poverty in Peru has been reduced, but cases of anemia remain very high. Iron deficiency anemia is about half of all causes of anemia cases, the other half is caused by inherited blood disorders or parasitic infections and malaria. We worked with the 2017 National Demographic Health Survey. The population was made up of children aged 0-59 months. The construction of the model proceeded in the following way, the individual characteristics (age, sex, birth number) and the proximal determinants such as place of origin, height, as well as an indicator variable of the mother such as educational level, together with the degrees of anemia (mild, moderate and severe). The results show The variables age of the child (p=0.000), altitude (p=0.000), were associated with severe anemia. The age of the child (p=0.000), a change between female or male sex (p=0.000), a change in birth order (p=0.025), change in urban or rural residence (p=0.005), the altitude (p=0.000), and the educational level of the mother (p=0.000), were associated with moderate anemia. The age of the child (p=0.000), a change between female or male sex (p=0.002), a change in birth order (p=0.003), change in urban or rural residence (p=0.000), the altitude (p=0.000), and the educational level of the mother (p=0.000), were associated with mild anemia. It is concluded with these results that these associated factors should be considered depending on the level of anemia.

Community intervention to prevent chronic malnutrition and anemia in children under 5 years old in the Portachuelo-San Ignacio community, 2017
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-01-08) García Adrianzén, Clara Taurina; Lozada Urbano, Michelle
The battle against anemia and malnutrition continues to be a challenge in Peru. Observational, longitudinal, and analytical study. To determine the assessment of the intervention, McNemar's non-parametric test was used. Study made up of 57 people, distributed among 25 men and 35 women, who correspond to father, mother or caregiver of boys or girls under five years of age. We worked with the entire population. The results show 78% have a marital status defined as cohabiting. 43.75% are in the range of 21 to 30 years old. More than 56% have completed incomplete primary and completed secondary education. 61% have their houses made of adobe. Less than a third of homes have electricity and water. 50% of children are diagnosed with anemia, and that percentage is between mild and moderate anemia. 92.5% consume foods of animal origin. 59.46% consume them 3 times a week. 37.5% present malnutrition. The intervention was carried out in 40 homes. After Hb 1 screening & Hb 2 screening, with a P=0.00, there is a modification in the Hemoglobin measurement, likewise, after the BMI measurement before and after, with a P=0.039, there is a modification in the nutritional diagnosis as a result. of the intervention. This intervention demonstrates that the strategies applied allowed for the improvement of anemia and chronic malnutrition.

Dietary intake at high altitudes and nutritional status in adolescent pregnant women attended at Pampas Hospital – Huancavelica, 2018
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-04-24) Cahuaya Pacoricona, Lionel Dante; Lozada Urbano, Michelle
The study aimed to correlate dietary intake with height and nutritional status of pregnant adolescents. Executed in Pampas-Huancavelica-Peru, at 3,251 meters above sea level. Cross-sectional study, 32 pregnant adolescents who met the inclusion criteria were interviewed; dietary intake was carried out with the 24-hour recall technique (R24H). The results show that energy, protein and fats are below the nutritional requirements, [average-adequacy] [energy: 2261.7 Kcal/day-80.8%], [proteins: 58.8 gr./day-78.9%], [ fats: 54.8 gr./day- 69.9%]. Carbohydrates showed values closer to adequacy [462.6 gr./day-95.5%]. Vitamins and minerals showed higher percentages of inadequacy, Thiamin (1.1 mg/day) 76.4%, Niacin 84.6%, Folic acid 80.2%, Cobalamin 77.1%, Vitamin A 86.5%, Riboflavin 77.3%, Iron 70.5%, Calcium 68.5 %, Phosphorus 76.6%, Iodine 84.1% and Zinc 82.3%. They showed a normal nutritional status 40.6%, underweight 56.2% and overweight 3.1%, with anemia 71.9% and without anemia 28.1%. A correlation was found between the adequacy of dietary intake at altitude (energy and nutrients) and nutritional status in pregnant adolescents; it was determined that there is a positive and significant correlation between the variables p<0.05, except for fat. We must focus on prevention, detection and timely treatment of anemia in women throughout their reproductive age and strengthen supplementation with iron or other micronutrients to reach 100% of pregnant women.

Nutritional status and its association with clinical characteristics of dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease at high altitude, 2017
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-10) Huerta Villanueva, Jesusa Teresa; Guzmán Palma, Lilia Ricardina; Lozada Urbano, Michelle
The incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease increases every year, of this population 88% undergo hemodialysis and the costs are very high. Comorbid conditions facilitate malnutrition; this group of patients has shown a high risk of reaching a state of malnutrition (40%) before and during dialysis. The objective was to determine the correlation between nutritional status and clinical characteristics of patients. Quantitative, descriptive, correlational study, 40 patients were dialyzed in a clinic in the city of Huaraz in 2017. The majority were female (58%), 48% were between 40 and 59 years old. Age: Me=51.05 years SD=16,662; Carpal Circumference: Me=16.20 SD=1.523; Triceps skin fold: Me=6.06 DS=4.054; Hemoglobin: Me=11.49 SD=2.114; Albumin: Me=4.16 DS=0.586. Clinical conditions Hypertension 37 (93%), Type II Diabetes 16 (40%). The result did not demonstrate correlation with any of the patient's clinical characteristics. There is an urgent need for nutritional counseling for dialysis patients.

Relationship between malnutrition and sociodemographic variables in surgical patients upon discharge from Sergio E. Bernales Hospital
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-26) López Ramirez, Sofia Marisol; Torres Tantavilca, Luisa Lita; Lozada Urbano, Michelle
Hospital malnutrition is high in hospitalized patients in Latin America. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between BMI and sociodemographic variables in surgical patients discharged from a hospital in Lima - 2018. Multinomial logistic regression was used to model nominal outcome variables. The result of this study includes 236 post-surgical hospitalized patients, 52% are female, the percentage of patients is 15 to 44 years old, next is the group of 45 to 64 years old, only 18% are older adults. Being between 31 and 40 years old or older (p= 0.030) is associated with a decrease of 0.90 in the relative probabilities of being overweight compared to being normal. Being older than 61 years or younger (p=0.040) is associated with a decrease of 0.54 in the relative odds of being overweight compared to being normal. A change in being male or female (p= 0.030) is associated with a 1.27 decrease in the relative odds of being obese compared to being normal. The possibility of being overweight or obese decreases by 1.08 if you are over 61 years of age (p=0.040). This little-studied relationship deserves more attention, the established conditions and recommendations can establish a prompt recovery.
