El rol del químico farmacéutico y su contribución en los pacientes hospitalizados que reciben nutrición parenteral en Lima Metropolitana, 2023

The present research followed a hypothetical-deductive method, with a quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional cut, and correlational level. A questionnaire with 27 closed questions and Likert-type scale responses was applied to 84 Pharmaceutical Chemists working in the parenteral nutrition area of health institutions in Metropolitan Lima. In the structure of the questions, the variable “Role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist” considered aspects such as validation of the parenteral nutrition formulation, analysis and interpretation of metabolic complications and electrolyte abnormalities, and processes of preparation of parenteral nutrition. In addition, the variable “Contribution” considered aspects such as improvement of clinical outcomes, economic results, safe practices and monitoring, nutritional therapeutic monitoring, and education, training, and research. Result: The nonparametric Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient obtained a value of +0.358, indicating that the relationship between the role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist and their contribution to hospitalized patients receiving parenteral nutrition is direct and of low intensity. Conclusion: The role of the Pharmaceutical Chemist is related to their contribution to hospitalized patients receiving parenteral nutrition in Metropolitan Lima, 2023, with a direct but low-intensity relationship.
