Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2016) Párraga Espinoza, Blanca Nievez; Mattos Vela, Manuel AntonioThe objective of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge level and oral health behaviors in 101 secondary school students from 3rd, 4th, and 5th year at the Benjamín Herencia Zevallos Educational Institution, Tintay district - Aymaraes - Apurímac, 2016. A knowledge and behavior questionnaire on oral hygiene, the modified HU-DBI (Hiroshima University-Dental Behavioral Inventory), validated and translated into Spanish by Santillán, was used. It consists of 20 questions, 10 about knowledge and 10 about behaviors. The predominant knowledge level in all three groups was average, with 20.79% in 3rd year, 20.79% in 4th year, and 32.65% in 5th year. As for behavior levels, both genders showed an average level: 40.59% in males and 51.49% in females. To establish the relationship between knowledge level and behaviors, the Chi-Square test was used. The study concluded that the knowledge level and oral health behaviors in both genders were average, with a P-value of 0.027, indicating a direct relationship between knowledge level and oral health behaviors in the students.
