Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between mothers' knowledge of school feeding and the nutritional status of children in a primary education institution, San Juan de Lurigancho - 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-07-24) Ortega Vargas, Carmen Isabel; Matta Solis, Eduardo PercyObjective: Determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers about school feeding and the nutritional status in children of a Primary Educational Institution, San Juan Lurigancho - 2019. Materials and methods: The methodological approach used was quantitative. Regarding the design, it was non-experimental, transversal and correlational. We worked with the total population, which was made up of mothers with primary school children from a school in Lima Este, with a total of 190 students, from the 1st grade. to the 6th. degree. The instrument used to measure the level of mothers' knowledge about school feeding was NICMAES, which includes 22 items grouped into 4 dimensions. To measure nutritional status in children, the nutritional status formula was used. Result: 127 mothers participated in the study, where the minimum age was 21 years, the maximum age was 50 and the average age was 32.89. Likewise, 127 primary school students participated. The minimum age was 6 years, the maximum was 11 and the average age was 7.69. Regarding the level of knowledge, 92.1% (n=117) had a medium level of knowledge and 7.9% (n=10) had a low level of knowledge. Regarding nutritional status, 7.9% (n=10) of all primary school students were underweight; 36.2% (n=46), normal weight; 23.6% (n=30), overweight; and 32.3% (n=41), obesity. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers about school feeding and the nutritional status in children of a Primary Educational Institution, San Juan Lurigancho - 2019.
