Buenas prácticas de prescripción de psicofármacos en recetas médicas atendidas en oficinas farmacéuticas del distrito de Surquillo, periodo febrero 2015–abril 2016

The objective of this thesis was to determine compliance with Good Prescribing Practices (GPP) for psychopharmaceuticals in medical prescriptions filled at Pharmaceutical Offices in the Surquillo district from February 2015 to April 2016. A descriptive and observational study was conducted. Data collection was retrospective. 544 medical prescriptions for psychopharmaceuticals were studied. Pharmaceutical Offices in the Surquillo District were analyzed, using a non-probabilistic convenience sampling method where prescriptions that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. A data form with study indicators was developed. Results: 86.9% of the prescriptions belonged to private health establishments. The most frequent medical specialty was Psychiatrist (53.1%). The most frequent psychopharmaceuticals were: Clonazepam (28.0%), Alprazolam (25.2%), and Sertraline (15.9%). The therapeutic subgroup that predominated was anxiolytics (60.8%). The most used ATC code was N03AE01 (28.0%). Prescriber data were recorded as follows: Full name 99.6%, CMP (Peruvian Medical Association registration) 99.3%, Medical Specialty and Signature 100%, and stamp 97.4% of medical prescriptions. The majority of medical prescriptions did not record patient data. The diagnosis was recorded in 33.3% of medical prescriptions. 77.4% used the International Nonproprietary Name (INN). Therapeutic indications were recorded as follows: dose 84.9%, frequency 79.4%, and duration 37.5%. The conclusion of this thesis demonstrated that a large percentage of doctors do not comply with Good Prescribing Practices.

Calidad en la atención al usuario del servicio de farmacia de emergencia – Hospital Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen. Lima, febrero de 2014

Quality of care is a central issue in the evaluation of health services and has become increasingly relevant in public health. User satisfaction is based on subjective judgments and is only valid if perceived by the users themselves, which highlights the importance of regularly assessing it, especially in health care centers. The present study aimed to determine the quality of user care at the emergency pharmacy service of Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital in Lima in February 2014. An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional design was applied, using the SERVQUAL model to evaluate perceptions and expectations in five dimensions: reliability, responsiveness, empathy, assurance, and tangibility. A total of 150 users participated voluntarily through a structured survey. The results revealed that 83.3% of users were dissatisfied with the quality of care received. Dissatisfaction levels were high across all dimensions, with the lowest rate of dissatisfaction (60.7%) found in the responsiveness dimension. It was concluded that user dissatisfaction is high, and quality control measures should be adopted to enhance service provision and improve patients’ quality of life.

Metodología de aprendizaje basado en dinámicas participativas sobre el uso racional del medicamento en pobladores del asentamiento humano Saúl Cantoral Huamaní, del distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho

This research aimed to determine the learning methodology applied for the rational use of medicines (RUM) in residents of the Saúl Cantoral Huamaní sector, district of San Juan de Lurigancho, and to assess the effectiveness of a participatory dynamics–based approach in improving knowledge of RUM. Promoting this practice in populations with limited social, cultural, and economic resources is a challenging but essential task, as the misuse of medicines can have highly detrimental effects on health, particularly in children. The study population consisted mostly of women (93.33%), with men representing 6.67%. In terms of occupation, the majority were housewives (76.67%), followed by students (10%), workers (3.33%), and schoolteachers (3.33%). The participants also represented a wide range of ages. The results indicated a significant improvement in knowledge, as evidenced by the difference between entry and exit test scores. Knowledge acquisition increased progressively across the four modules, with gains of 20%, 22.7%, 31.5%, and 33.85%, respectively. These results underscore the necessity of incorporating pharmaceutical education into community programs. The study contributed to the development of a manual tailored to the social conditions and educational levels of different groups, providing timely information that improved quality of life and helped prevent self-medication.

Nivel de conocimiento sobre el comercio ilegal y falsificación de medicamentos en estudiantes de tres instituciones educativas – San Juan de Lurigancho, 2017

International organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Peru through the General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (DIGEMID) and the Multisectoral Group for the Fight against the Counterfeiting of Medicines (CONTRAFALME), have developed initiatives to eradicate the illegal trade and falsification of medicines. Within this framework, the present study aimed to enhance the knowledge of secondary school students regarding medicine falsification and the fight against illegal pharmaceutical trade. The research followed a descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional design. Active educational strategies were implemented during training sessions, and entry and exit tests were used to measure student comprehension. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was applied for validation, while the Wilcoxon non-parametric test for paired samples was used to compare results. Data were processed with SPSS v22. The results indicated a significant improvement in student knowledge. Prior to training, 28.8% of participants demonstrated a regular level of knowledge, while after training, 40.2% achieved a good level. These findings suggest that active educational interventions are effective in strengthening awareness and understanding of medicine falsification and illegal trade among secondary school students.

Permanencia del director técnico y los errores en el proceso de dispensación de medicamentos en oficinas farmacéuticas del distrito de Villa El Salvador, 2017

This research aimed to determine how the permanence of the Technical Director influences the number of errors in the process of dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications in pharmaceutical offices in the district of Villa el Salvador in 2017. The research was a descriptive field study with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional observational design. The sample was a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 66 drugstores located on the three main avenues of the Villa el Salvador district. The technique used was a survey, with the instruments being a questionnaire applied by simulated buyers in the pharmaceutical offices. The results from descriptive statistics showed that the Technical Director was present in only 33.3% (22) of the total sample. Additionally, pharmacists, on average, committed fewer dispensing errors with and without prescriptions compared to other dispensing staff. Using a Student's t-test at a 5% significance level (t=13.672, p=0.00), it was found that the permanence of the technical director significantly influences the number of errors in the medication dispensing process.
