A retrospective, observational, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, in which the characteristics of 495 prescribed antibacterials corresponding to 100% were analyzed, duly meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. An instrument was developed for data collection. Among the results, it was found that 97.2% of the prescribed antibacterials recorded the frequency of administration, while in 62.4% the route of administration was not recorded, and 52.1% recorded the dose of administration. Regarding the quality of prescription, 80.4% of the prescribed antibacterials were inadequate, that is, they lacked at least one element such as dose, frequency, route of administration, or days of treatment at the time of prescription. A total of 95.76% of the prescribed antibacterials did belong to the National Essential Medicines List. A total of 99.40% of the prescribed antibacterials were given under the International Nonproprietary Name. A total of 97.58% of the prescribed antibacterials were not for restricted use. The most prescribed antibacterial, with 29.5%, was cephalexin 500 mg tablets, followed by metronidazole 500 mg tablets with 22.4%. (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-09-30) Cortez Sosa, Daniela; Paico Delgado, Aydee Roxana; Respicio López, Patricia Milagros
The research focuses on the study of the consumption of healthy foods and their effectiveness in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in the José Leonardo Ortiz district, Chiclayo. This chronic disease requires careful dietary management to control blood glucose levels and prevent complications. The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the consumption of healthy foods and their effectiveness in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in the José Leonardo Ortiz district, Chiclayo, in the year 2023. The research is methodologically framed in a quantitative approach, using a cross-sectional descriptive methodological design. The study population is made up of 115 patients with type II diabetes. Data were collected on healthy food consumption, glucose control, and associated complications. The results indicate that there was no statistically significant relationship between the consumption of healthy foods in the dimensions: nutritional recommendations, vegetable consumption, protein consumption and effectiveness in patients with Diabetes mellitus type II, however, the chi-square analysis indicates that there is a statistically significant relationship between the consumption of healthy foods in its carbohydrate consumption dimension and effectiveness in patients with Diabetes mellitus type II. It was concluded that the consumption of healthy foods in the carbohydrate consumption dimension is the only one related to effectiveness in patients with Type II Diabetes mellitus, therefore, we are determined that in this population, patients with diabetes are not receiving timely control and monitoring of their disease, it is recommended that the Ministry of Health together with health centers form strategic alliances, so that health professionals can intervene at the first level of care to help these patients avoid complications.

Non-compliance with the Good Prescribing Practices (GPP) Manual affects health; therefore, the objective is to determine the relationship between compliance and knowledge of the GPP Manual. The methodology used an observational, correlational design. A total of 2,292 prescriptions were reviewed and evaluated considering the dimensions: patient data, medication data, prescriber data, and prescription date. A questionnaire was administered to 16 doctors using non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Results show that 88% of the analyzed prescriptions were non-compliant, while 100% of the surveyed doctors achieved a high knowledge level (greater than 75%). Analyzing compliance and knowledge of medication data, a direct relationship (0.755) was found. In the dimension of compliance and knowledge of prescriber data and patient data, no relationship (0.00) was found. Regarding compliance and knowledge of the prescription date, a direct relationship (0.499) was found. A weak direct relationship (0.070) exists between compliance and knowledge of the GPP Manual. In conclusion, external factors cause non-compliance with the Good Prescribing Practices Manual.

Importancia de una central de preparados de fórmulas parenterales y los factores que limitan su implementación en un hospital de tercer nivel de atención, año 2020 – Lima, Perú
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-05-20) Pacheco Neira, Mayra Karina; Respicio López, Patricia Milagros
The objective of this research was to evaluate the importance of a Parenteral Formula Preparation Center (CPFP) and the Factors Limiting its Implementation (FLI) in a tertiary-level hospital in Lima, Peru, in 2020. Methodologically, the study was descriptive and focused on the phenomenon in its current state, with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional design. The technique used was a survey, and the instrument was a relevant questionnaire that considered the variables and indicators. Data were collected on the importance of a CPFP and the FLI in a tertiary-level hospital in 2020. The results indicate the importance of having a CPFP in a tertiary-level hospital, with budgetary availability being a limiting factor. These findings were consistent with expectations and with the reviewed literature. Finally, the demand for parenteral nutrition in a CPFP with FLI in a tertiary-level hospital was direct and significant, with a significance level of α = 0.000. The research, conducted in national tertiary-level hospitals in Lima in 2020, showed a high demand for parenteral nutrition due to a high degree of national referrals and a large population of pediatric and severely malnourished patients, which highlights the importance of a CPFP.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-03-24) Bermudo Gonzales, Juan Carlos; Respicio López, Patricia Milagros
Pharmaceutical validation is an activity performed by pharmacists that involves the clinical evaluation of prescriptions to determine the appropriate dispensing of pharmaceutical products, while the rational use of medicines aims to ensure that patients receive appropriate, safe, and cost effective therapies. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between pharmaceutical validation and the rational use of medicines in digital prescriptions for outpatients treated at San Bartolomé Hospital during 2023. The study was descriptive, with a non experimental, retrospective, and correlational design, analyzing 2,049 digital prescriptions and evaluating adherence to indications, errors, and prescribing patterns. The results showed 72% compliance and 28% non-compliance in the recording of indications. Regarding the reasons for the rational use of medications, 41% corresponded to prescriptions with previously prescribed medications and 43% to over-prescription, which generated a total savings of S/. 82,489.92. Furthermore, 10,425 units of medication were not dispensed, the specialties with the highest number of interventions during pharmaceutical validation were identified, and significant savings were achieved in high-cost medications. It is concluded that pharmaceutical validation contributed significantly to the rational use of medications, optimizing dispensing, strengthening patient safety, and improving the efficiency of institutional resource management.
