The relationship between balance and functional capacity in the elderly of the Callao Rehabilitation Hospital in times of pandemic, 2022
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-28) Rodriguez Chulluncuy, Jenyfer Jesseicca; Rodriguez Garcia, Rosa Vicenta
Balance is also affected in aging, due to progressive biological deterioration and pre-existing diseases the elderly may have. Assessing balance with validated and reliable methods is essential to identify and prevent risk factors early, as balance impairments are one of the leading causes of falls and dependency in older adults. Many older adults experience a progressive decline in functional capacity due to age-related changes such as loss of musculoskeletal functions, muscle strength, and pre-existing conditions, which leads to dependence on family members or healthcare assistants, affecting the older adult socially and emotionally.

Relationship between depressive state and physical activity in the elderly the home care Program-Essalud Lima, 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-11-29) Gómez Zavala, Luisa; Rodriguez Garcia, Rosa Vicenta
20% of older adults suffer from mental disorders, with depressive states being the leading cause of disability. Physical inactivity is considered a risk factor for depressive manifestations. These variables can be measured with easily accessible tools such as the Yesavage Scale for depressive state and the IPAQ for physical activity. This study aimed to determine the effect of physical training on the distance walked by post-COVID patients at the Respirando2 respiratory therapy center. A physical training program was designed, and the 6-minute walk test was used to measure the effects on the distance covered. The conclusion is that physical training can lead to significant changes in the distance walked and its cardiac, respiratory, and functional physical components, improving the quality of life of post-COVID patients.

Relationship between sedentary behavior and sleep quality in older adults at the Callao Rehabilitation Hospital - Bellavista, 2023
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-09-29) Carbajal Yachachin, Leslie Paola; Rodriguez Garcia, Rosa Vicenta
The world is undergoing a demographic transition, leading to a higher proportion of older adults in the population. Due to the current health emergency caused by COVID-19, Peru was declared in a “State of Emergency,” with mandatory quarantine and social distancing measures, affecting the quality of life of individuals. The most vulnerable population, older adults, developed a sedentary lifestyle, decreased and/or altered sleep patterns, among other issues, resulting in a series of negative consequences. Sedentary behavior is defined as "not engaging in physical activity or doing so less than three times per week and/or less than 20 minutes each time." Sleep quality not only refers to sleeping well at night but also includes proper daytime functioning. One of the provinces with the highest population growth and the largest projected increase in the older adult population is the Constitutional Province of Callao. Due to the current environment, the question arises whether there is a relationship between sedentary behavior and its impact on the quality of sleep in the older adult population.
