Publicación Acceso abierto Influencia de los hábitos alimenticios en los niveles de fósforo en personas de la tercera edad en la Casa Hogar San Martin de Porres. Lima-2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-27) Guerra Vásquez, Rosa Beatriz; Román Cano, Sandra Verónica; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelOur research project was to determine the influence of dietary habits on phosphorus levels in elderly people at the San Martin de Porres Home for the Elderly in Lima 2017. The methodology was an observational, quantitative, correlational, prospective, and cross-sectional study. Sixty-two elderly people were included, selected through non-probability sampling, from whom a blood sample was taken. The phosphorus-UV reactive method was used to analyze phosphorus, which helped identify hypophosphatemia and hyperphosphatemia. Results: average age was 74.2 ± 7.4 years; the majority were men (67.7%), overweight (48.4%), and whose main comorbidity was high blood pressure (21%). No significant influence of dietary habits on phosphorus levels was found in elderly people (p = 0.977). Phosphorus levels were normal for 93.5% of the elderly people, and eating habits were regular for 90.3%. The consumption of cereals (77.4%), milk or milk products (74.2%), chicken, hen, or turkey (90.3%), and fruits or vegetables (77.4%) was three or more times per week. In conclusion, dietary habits did not influence phosphorus levels in older adults.
