    Emotional intelligence and empathy in nursing students at a higher health technology institute in Lima, 2018

    Objective: Determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and empathy in nursing students at a Higher Technological Institute of Health in Lima, 2018. Materials and methods: Quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational, non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 588 nursing students. The survey technique was used to collect the data. The Emotional Intelligence Scale instrument “TMMS – 24” created by Fernández-Berrocal, Extremera and Ramos was used; and, to measure empathy, the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale (EEMJ) version E, translated into Spanish and created by Mohammadreza Hojat. Results: The relationship between the variables was evaluated using Spearman's statistical test (p: 0.318). It was shown that 62.4% of the students obtained a medium level of emotional intelligence; Regarding the dimensions, it was observed that 73.1% of the students obtained a medium level in the emotional perception dimension; 64.1% average level in understanding emotions; and 49.8% had a high level of emotion regulation; In relation to the empathy variable, the majority obtained a medium level with 80.6%; Regarding the dimensions, it was observed that 69.7% of the students obtained a medium level in the dimension ability to put themselves in the patient's shoes; 68.4% medium level in compassionate care; and 53.4% ​​average level in perspective taking. Conclusions: Emotional intelligence and empathy present a moderate directly proportional relationship in Nursing students at a Higher Technological Institute of Health in Lima. Emotional intelligence and empathy present a medium level.

    Inteligencia emocional y desempeño laboral en profesionales de enfermería del servicio de crecimiento y desarrollo de los centros de salud del distrito de Comas, 2024

    Introducción: Todas las emociones son de suma importancia en nuestra vida cotidiana y las enfermeras han aprendido a identificarlas y controlarlas, aunque no en su totalidad. En los establecimientos de salud encuentran diversas personas sanas, enfermas, tristes, ansiosas por diferentes situaciones que están atravesando. Los enfermeros se enfrentan a un entorno cargado de emociones intensas que debemos saber lidiar con ellas para continuar desempeñando nuestra labor, brindando atenciones y cuidados humanizados de calidad para lograr el bienestar del paciente. Objetivo: “Determinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y el desempeño laboral en profesionales de enfermería del servicio de crecimiento y desarrollo de los centros de salud del distrito de Comas, 2024”. Se utilizará el método, hipotético - deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, aplicado, no experimental, correlacional y de corte transversal, en una muestra censal de 72 profesionales de enfermería, se aplicará el instrumento TMMS-24, para evaluar inteligencia emocional y un cuestionario para desempeño laboral; ambos son confiables y válidos. Después de recolectar los datos, se procesarán utilizando el programa SPSS 27, se comprobarán las hipótesis con el Coeficiente de Correlación de Spearman, por ser las variables cualitativas.
