Publicación Acceso abierto Relación de la evitación experiencial y los niveles de depresión, ansiedad y estrés en estudiantes universitarios de Lima, 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-10-16) Saravia Moya, Angélica Susana; Herrera Álvarez, Ángela MaríaThe research aimed to determine the relationship between experiential avoidance and levels of anxiety, depression, and stress, considered together, in university students in Lima in the year 2025. A quantitative approach was used, with a cross- sectional correlational design. The instruments used for data collection were the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II (AAQ-II) and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). 150 university students were evaluated. The results showed significant positive correlations between experiential avoidance and anxiety (r = 0,359), depression (r = 0,495), and stress (r =0,499). At, the multivariate level, the canonical correlation was 0,575% explaining 33,00% of the joint variance. The highest correlations were obtained in the dimensions persistent tension (r = 0,552), anhedonia – dysphoria (r = 0,515), irritability and overload (r = 0,447), and hopelessness – devaluation (r = 0,445). The transdiagnostic factor of experiential avoidance was shown to be present in the symptomatology of anxiety, depression, and stress, with physical and emotional consequences for university students. It is concluded that experiential avoidance is an important construct in psychological distress and can increase level of anxiety, depression, and stress. It is recommended to implement intervention programs focused on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to reduce psychological distress and strengthen the well-being of university students.
