The study used a basic quantitative approach with a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 385 people. SPSS version 25.0 was used, and the method of proportion estimation via confidence intervals was applied. The research also characterized users who self-medicate with paracetamol, focusing on sociodemographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Method: The study used a basic quantitative approach with a non-experimental design. A sample of 385 people and a pilot sample of 50 people were given a questionnaire. Results: The research obtained the characterization of users who self-medicate with paracetamol. Males were the most likely to self-medicate, at 65.8%. The age group of 18–24 years had the highest rate of self-medication (81.1%). The most common marital status was single (58.7%), and the educational level was higher education (47.9%). The most common health insurance affiliation was Essalud (44.4%). The salary of those who self-medicated was between S/ 1,001 and S/ 2,000 soles. The most common occupation was dependent employment, at 51.7%. Conclusion: Of the 385 surveyed, 119 users self-medicated, 93 had a medical prescription, and 173 did not consume.Publicación Acceso abierto Efecto hepatoprotector del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Momordica charantia L. (“bitter gourd”) in mice with acute liver intoxication induced by paracetamol, and of identifying the different secondary metabolites present in the plant species through the evaluation of the qualitative phytochemical profile. Our design was experimental. For the phytochemical analysis, the leaves of Momordica charantia L. (“bitter gourd”) were collected. Subsequently, the hydroalcoholic extract was obtained by the filtration method. For the pharmacological study, the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Momordica charantia L. was administered at doses of 200, 400, and 600 mg/kg in mice weighing approximately 28–32 g of body weight. The extract was administered orally for three consecutive days, and on the following day, hepatotoxicity was induced with 600 mg/kg of paracetamol. At the end, all animals were subjected to administration of pentobarbital 6.5% 0.1 mL; sacrifice was carried out by the narcosis method, the livers were isolated, and histopathological studies were performed. Results: In the phytochemical screening, the presence of chemical compounds such as alkaloids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and tannins was identified. In the histopathological analysis, evidence of cellular damage at the hepatic level was found in all study groups due to the hepatotoxic action of paracetamol. Conclusions: The plant species possesses secondary metabolites with biological activity. The hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Momordica charantia L. A descriptive, experimental, and prospective design was applied using adult female Holtzman albino rats. Method: hepatotoxicity was induced with paracetamol. Forty-eight rats (220–240 g) were randomly distributed into six groups of eight animals each and maintained under identical diet and housing conditions. Treatments were administered orally for five consecutive days: Group I received saline solution (5 mL/kg), Group II paracetamol (250 mg/kg), Group III silymarin (50 mg/kg), and Groups IV–VI hydroalcoholic extract of V. stipularis leaves (200, 400, and 600 mg/kg, respectively). Twenty hours after the experimental stage, animals were anesthetized and sacrificed for blood collection and histopathological analysis. Biochemical parameters (serum transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, total, direct, and indirect bilirubin) were evaluated. Results were analyzed using Student’s t-test with significance set at p < 0.05. The control group exhibited hyperemic foci, inflammatory signs, and apoptotic cells, whereas groups treated with the extract showed normal hepatic parenchyma. Material y método: La revisión sistemática de los 10 artículos de eficacia antipirética del uso combinado frente al uso individual de paracetamol e ibuprofeno en pacientes pediátricos febriles en el servicio de emergencia fueron hallados en las siguientes bases de datos: Cochrane, SciELO, Medline, PubMed y Elsevier. De los 10 artículos revisados, el 60% (6/10) corresponden al diseño metodológico de ensayo clínico aleatorizado, el 30% (3/10) son revisiones sistemáticas y el 10% (1/10) es revisión simple. Todos ellos fueron analizados según la escala GRADE para determinar su fuerza y calidad de evidencia. Resultados: El 80% de los artículos revisados son concluyentes, estos se ven respaldados en 1 revisión sistemática y 1 revisión simple, las cuales sugieren que el uso de la terapia combinada es mejor que la monoterapia, y 6 ensayos clínicos aleatorizados que muestran que el uso combinado de paracetamol e ibuprofeno actúa más eficazmente e inclusive en un tiempo más rápido que el paracetamol o ibuprofeno solos. El otro 20%, sin embargo, recomienda que son necesarios mayores estudios y en poblaciones más grandes para poder afirmar su eficacia. Los estudios revisados fueron en su mayoría ensayos aleatorizados controlados, con un 80%, principalmente en los países de Turquía, India, Irlanda, China, Italia, México y Ecuador. Entre revisiones sistemáticas y meta análisis encontramos a los países de Italia, Turquia y China, con un 20%. Resultados: El 30% (3) de artículos muestran que los perfiles de seguridad de paracetamol e ibuprofeno son similares, un 20% (2) artículos demostraron que el paracetamol puede ser una alternativa médica en el tratamiento del cierre del ductus. El 80% (8) artículos muestran que el paracetamol endovenoso en comparación con la indometacina intravenosa es más eficaz en favorecer el cierre del ductus arterioso persistente en el recién nacido prematuro. Methodology: A quantitative approach was used, employing deductive reasoning, an experimental design, and a cross-sectional study. The population consisted of paracetamol syrups from national and generic laboratories, with one bottle sampled per formula. The technique used was observation, supported by a data collection form. Results: The organoleptic evaluation (color, odor, taste, and absence of particles) met the parameters established in the Peruvian Technical Standard for oral medications. The physicochemical properties remained within the specified ranges: delivery volume, moisture loss (no more than 5%), pH (3.8–6.1), and density (1.000 g/mL–1.120 g/mL). Microbiological controls revealed an absence of aerobic microorganisms and fungi in all samples. Compliance with Good Storage Practices (GSP) was verified in pharmacies and drugstores, which contributed to preserving the stability, efficacy, and safety of the product throughout its shelf life. Conclusions: After determining the accelerated stability comparisons of paracetamol syrup and exploring the formulations of pharmaceutical laboratories in Metropolitan Lima in 2024, it can be stated that they comply with Peruvian technical and regulatory standards, guaranteeing a safe, effective, and high-quality product. Methodology: Hypotheticaldeductive, quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational level; The sample size was 229 people, to whom a survey was applied to learn about the related factors and practices of paracetamol consumption; Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Version 25.0 and Chi-square independence test with 5% significance. Results: It was found that 65.5% of residents presented inappropriate consumption practices and 34.5% carried out adequate consumption practices, based on the analysis of the relationship of the factors with paracetamol consumption practices, there was a correlation significant between the dimension sociodemographic factors such as age (p value=0.003), level of education (p value=0.000) with paracetamol consumption practices; Likewise, between the sociocultural factors dimension Who influences (p value=0.000) and source of information (p value=0.000) with paracetamol consumption practices and between the economic factors dimension monthly income (p value=0.017) and health insurance (p value=0.000) with paracetamol consumption practices. The objective was to validate the analytical method for the assay of paracetamol combined with ibuprofen in coated tablets by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The method employed was high-performance liquid chromatography under the following conditions: chromatographic column Lichrospher 100 RP-18 (packing L1) measuring 125 mm × 4 mm (5 μm), flow rate of 0.6 mL/min, temperature of 25°C, detection wavelength of 230 nm, injection volume of 25 μL, and a mobile phase composed of potassium phosphate buffer pH 4.0 and acetonitrile in a 35:65 ratio. The parameters developed included specificity, which demonstrated no significant difference in the response of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the presence of the matrix; linearity, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999; accuracy, with recovery percentages above 98.0% and within the assigned bias limits; and precision and robustness, with values within the established ranges and coefficients of variation below 2.00%. In conclusion, as all parameters established by official standards were met, the validation of the analytical methodology was considered successfully completed.
