Publicación Acceso abierto Conocimientos y prácticas sobre el uso del anticonceptivo oral de emergencia (AOE) en estudiantes de la Facultad de Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, agosto–diciembre 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Merino Revilla, Karla Norma; Machaca Rocha, Sandra Beatriz; Crispín Pérez, VíctorThe objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and practices regarding the use of emergency oral contraceptives (EOC) among students from the third to the tenth semester of the evening shift at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of Norbert Wiener University. The study was conducted between August and December 2014. It was an observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study involving a population of 284 students. To achieve the research objectives, a survey was conducted with a sample of 166 students. The results showed that 112 students (67.47%) were female and 54 (32.53%) were male. Ages ranged from 20 to 50 years; 123 students (74.10%) were single, 42 (25.30%) were married, and 1 (0.6%) was divorced. Regarding knowledge of the EOC mechanism of action, 123 students (74.2%) demonstrated a poor level. Concerning knowledge of EOC side effects, 116 students (69.88%) reached a good level. Furthermore, 151 students (90.96%) showed good knowledge about the time after unprotected sexual intercourse for EOC use (72 hours). Regarding practices related to EOC use, all 166 students (100%) reported having used the EOC. They demonstrated appropriate practices regarding the reasons for using the EOC. Additionally, 150 students (90.36%) reported using a regular or alternative contraceptive method after taking the EOC, reflecting appropriate practices. The main reasons for frequent EOC use among students were the ease of accessing a pharmacy quickly, lack of time, and insufficient funds for medical consultations. Consequently, 142 students (85.54%) reported using the EOC without a medical prescription, reflecting inadequate practice levels.Publicación Acceso abierto Relación entre conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas del uso de anticonceptivos de emergencia en mujeres en edad fértil en botica “Mi Doctor” en Los Olivos, enero–abril 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-27) Escudero Jimeno, Cesar Alberto; Lauro Morales, Yessenia; Cárdenas Orihuela, Robert ArmandoObjective: To contrast the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the use of emergency contraceptives among women of childbearing age who attend the pharmacy “Mi Doctor” in Los Olivos, from January to April 2018.
