Anxiety level of patients during dental care in times of Covid 19 at the Cerdent clinic - Miraflores headquarters San Antonio 2020

Dental anxiety is a condition significantly affecting the population, manifesting as fear, worry, unease, etc., due to past experiences that hinder routine activities such as seeking dental care, leading to treatment abandonment, fear of dentists, and more. This issue has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this study was to determine the level of anxiety among patients during dental care in the context of COVID-19 at the Cerdent Clinic - Miraflores, San Antonio branch, in 2020. This was a descriptive, observational, prospective, and cross-sectional study. The sample included 201 patients over 18 years old. The SDAI and MDAS questionnaires, comprising a total of 14 questions, were used to measure anxiety levels as well as control variables like age and gender. Data were processed using a descriptive analysis for each question. The results showed that 85.15% of patients were classified as extremely anxious according to the SDAI, and 42.57% had moderate anxiety according to the MDAS. In conclusion, 100% of the surveyed patients presented some level of anxiety during dental care in the context of COVID-19 at the Cerdent Clinic - Miraflores, San Antonio branch, in 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, dental care was limited. In this context, ESSALUD (Social Health Insurance of Peru), following the guidelines for performing dental procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic and recognizing the need of much of the population to alleviate their dental issues, resumed oral health care at the Alfredo Piazza Roberts Primary Care Center III, Almenara Health Network, Essalud, Lima. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of dental care during the COVID-19 pandemic and compare it with prior care, in order to assess the dental care that has been provided to date.

Cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice in undergraduate students at the Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022

The objective of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice among undergraduate students at Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022. To achieve the proposed objective, a basic study with a descriptive, correlational level, and a cross-sectional, non-experimental design was developed. A questionnaire was applied to 120 students from the Comprehensive Adult Clinic II course during the 2022 I and II periods in the Dentistry program at the mentioned university. According to the results, 49.2% of the students showed a regular level of cognitive competencies regarding their attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice. Additionally, 22.5% of the students reflected a good level of cognitive competencies, and only a small percentage, specifically 5%, showed a poor attitude toward medical emergency care during dental practice. A moderately positive correlation was determined between the two variables using the Spearman's Rho statistical test (rho = 0.618, p = 0.000). Conclusion: There is a relationship between cognitive competencies and attitudes toward medical emergency care during dental practice among undergraduate students at Norbert Wiener Private University in Lima, 2022.

Level of patient safety culture in collegiate dentists in the city of Lima - 2021

Patient safety is the degree to which the patient is minimally exposed, reducing risks. Dentists perform high-risk procedures, so it is essential to understand the events that may endanger patients. This study aims to determine the level of patient safety culture among licensed dentists in Lima city, 2021, using a deductive methodology, quantitative approach, and basic type. It is an observational, descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional study, in which a survey created by John B. Sexton (2006) was used, administered through the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ), with a validation via factor analysis and a reliability coefficient of Raykov of 0.9. Virtual platforms were used to gather the necessary data. The sample included 378 licensed dentists in the Lima region, with 43.4% identifying a high level of safety culture, 55.8% a medium level, and 0.8% a low level. It was concluded that the level of safety culture is medium.

Nivel de ansiedad en pacientes adultos frente a la atención odontológica en tiempos de Covid 19 en un centro odontológico, Lima 2020.

The objective of this study was to determine the level of anxiety in adult patients regarding dental care during the COVID-19 pandemic at a dental center in Lima in 2020. This was an observational, prospective, and cross-sectional study that included 203 patients of both sexes over 18 years old who attended the aforementioned dental center. A previously validated survey, the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale by Corah, was applied to collect demographic characteristics of the participants and the type of treatment received to diagnose anxiety levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each participant voluntarily consented by signing an informed consent form. The results showed that 40.89% of respondents presented a mild level of anxiety. A significant association was found between different levels of anxiety and the variable age, with a predominance in the 18 to 39-year-old range (64.53%). Higher prevalence was also observed in females (64.53%), participants with higher education (60.10%), single marital status (59.11%), and in restorative treatments (29.06%). In conclusion, the application of the Norman Corah Test allowed the determination that a high percentage of individuals did not report dental anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among those who did, moderate anxiety was the most representative.

Quality of service in the dental care received, in the inhabitants of the C.P. from Pochccota who attend the Hugo Pesce Pescetto hospital in Andahuaylas - Apurimac 2021.

Quality is essential in any human activity, and health services are no exception, becoming an increasingly necessary requirement in both public and private institutions. This is the case for the dental profession and the care provided by professionals in this field, particularly at the Hugo Pesce Pescetto Hospital in the city of Andahuaylas, Apurímac department, in 2021. Objective: To determine the quality of dental care received by the population of the Pochccota population center who attend the Hugo Pesce Pescetto Hospital in Andahuaylas, Apurímac, in 2021. Material and Methods: A descriptive, prospective survey-based study will be conducted, with a sample of 365 residents of the Pochccota population center who attend outpatient services at the Hugo Pesce Pescetto Hospital's dentistry service. The study will assess their perception of the quality of care received and their satisfaction. Statistically, the frequency and percentage of the data will be determined using statistical significance in SPSS. Reliability will be determined using the chi-square method or Cronbach's alpha. A background database will be created in Excel 2020 software, and will be transferred to IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 for further analysis.
