Effectiveness of a treatment regimen including bedaquiline for bacteriological conversion at six months in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Lizano Ochoa, Silvia; Zubieta Rosales, Rosa Eliana; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the treatment scheme that includes bedaquiline for bacteriological conversion at the sixth month in patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Materials and Methods: Systematic, observational and retrospective review that synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations. They are an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to their rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions of clinical practice, the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to critical reading. using the grade system to assign recommendation strength. In the final selection, 10 international research articles were chosen, where we found that 20% (02) corresponds to Italy, 20% (02) South Africa, with 10% (1) France, Belarus, England, China, Canada, India. These were found in the Pubmed database. Among the high evidence articles we find 50% of the countries of India, Canada, China, Italy and England. And with 50% moderate evidence to France, Italy, Belarus, South Africa Results: 100% of the reviewed articles (n=10/10) show that bedaquiline has the potential to achieve high sputum culture conversion rates at the sixth month of treatment in patients with tuberculosis.

Performance of the gram and modified Browm - Brenn staining method in the diagnosis of bacterial endocarditis Incor, Lima, 2015-2020.
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-25) Artica Vicente, Reynaldo Abdias; Ascarza Gallegos, Justo Angelo
Infective endocarditis is one of the major heart conditions that pose a challenge to cardiology, with a high mortality rate. The microorganisms that cause this disease are diverse, with most cases linked to streptococci and staphylococci, and Staphylococcus aureus being the most prevalent in developed countries. In diagnosing infective endocarditis, pathological examination is more sensitive than valve culture. It has been shown that there are cases of culture-negative endocarditis, as well as those negative for conventional Gram staining. However, using the modified Brown-Brenn Gram stain, the result was positive, which led to therapeutic failures due to poor disease management. Considering the importance of the laboratory in aiding diagnosis, this study will evaluate the performance, in terms of sensitivity and specificity, of both the Gram stain and the modified Brown-Brenn Gram stain for diagnosing bacterial endocarditis at the INCOR.
