Ítem Acceso abierto Association of serum cortisol levels and burnout syndrome in workers of the clinical pathology service of the Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-28) Bermudo Rodriguez, Juana Rosa; Valenzuela Martinez, Stefany SaragozaA descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 81 workers, including both male and female volunteers over 18 years old, medical laboratory technicians, clinical and pathological anatomy technologists, and pathologists. Cortisol concentration was measured, and the Maslach questionnaire was used to determine burnout syndrome. The participants had an average age of 42 ± 10.3 years (range 21 to 67 years), with 41 (50.6%) being female. The most frequent age groups were 31 to 40 years and 51 to 65 years, both accounting for 34.6%. Of the participants, 48 (59.3%) were medical technologists, 29 (35.8%) were laboratory technicians, and 3 (3.7%) were pathologists. The most common length of service was 1 to 10 years (43.2%), followed by 11 to 20 years (24.7%). Burnout syndrome was evident in 24 (29.6%), 64 (79%), and 72 (88.9%) participants in the emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment dimensions, respectively. A correlation was found between serum cortisol concentrations in the first morning analysis (A.M.) and all three burnout dimensions. Conclusion: There is an association between the first morning measurement of serum cortisol levels and all three dimensions of burnout syndrome. The study used a quantitative approach, employing a descriptive-correlation method and a non-experimental design with a single measurement. The sample consisted of 167 participants who were assessed using the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. Results showed a significant and direct correlation between problem-focused stress coping and psychological well-being (r = 0.499; p < 0.05), while emotion-focused coping had a significant but inverse correlation (rho = -0.534; p < 0.05). No significant correlation was found between other coping methods and psychological well-being (r = 0.138; p > 0.05). The study concluded that those who cope with stress by focusing on the problem show better psychological well-being, whereas those who focus on emotions tend to have lower well-being.Ítem Acceso abierto Emotional intelligence and self-esteem in high school students at a public educational institution in Mala District, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-23) Eugenio Medina, Yerismina Magdalena; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThis study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem among secondary school students from a public institution in the district of Mala. The research used the hypothetico-deductive method, with a quantitative, descriptive-correlational approach and a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 268 students, aged 12 to 17. The instruments used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965) adapted by Atienza, Balaguer, & Moreno (2000) and the Trait-Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24) by Salovey and Mayer, adapted by Fernández-Berrocal et al. (2004). The results indicated a strong and highly significant direct correlation between emotional intelligence and self-esteem. No significant differences were found based on gender or age, but a significant result was found in the dimension of emotional intelligence perception, where women showed greater prevalence.Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between physical activity and quality of life of students of The José Antonio Encinas Cultural Educational Network, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-19) Alva Pereda, Teresa Violeta; Melgarejo Valverde, Jose AntonioObjective: To determine the relationship between the level of physical activity and the quality of life of students from the José Antonio Encinas Cultural Educational Network, 2022. Materials and Methods: The research approach was quantitative, with a population consisting of male and female students between the ages of 25 and 50. The sample included 80 students of both genders from the José Antonio Encinas Cultural Educational Network. The sampling method was probabilistic, using simple random sampling according to the selection criteria. Results: The majority belong to the 20 to 29 age group, representing 67.9% of the total. Regarding sex distribution, the sample was predominantly female, comprising 71.56%. Most of the group (44.95%) engage in a moderate level of physical activity. 31.19% engage in a high level of physical activity, and 23.85% engage in a low level of physical activity. The majority report an average quality of life regarding the environment, with 33.94%. 26.61% report a low level, 21.10% report a high level, 13.76% report a very high level, and 4.59% report a very low level in the environment dimension. Conclusions: The average age was 25.42 years, with a standard deviation of ± 5.9 years, and an age range from 17 to 49 years. The age distribution shows that the majority belong to the 20 to 29 age group, and the sample is predominantly female. We can affirm that the variables physical activity and quality of life are related to each other, as well as the relationship between physical activity and the physical health dimension of quality of life.Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and depressive symptoms in adults during the coronavirus health crisis in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-23) Vela Panduro, Perlit; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of this study was to determine the relationship between resilience and depressive symptoms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in a district of Lima. This was a hypothetical-deductive study with numerical assignment to observable phenomena for quantification, without intentional manipulation of one or more variables, and with a single measurement. The CSI instrument by Tobin (1989) was used for coping strategies, and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale (1989) was used for well-being. Findings indicated that, with statistical significance, all strategies except Emotional Expression and Social Withdrawal correlated significantly (p < .05) and directly (rho > 0) with psychological well-being, except for the Problem Avoidance dimension, which showed a significant inverse correlation (p < .05, rho < 0). The study concludes that nursing staff who generally face stressful situations by using cognitive restructuring or focus energy on directly resolving adverse situations or managing social support tend to show greater psychological well-being. Conversely, those who avoid facing problems tend to show less psychological well-being.
