Determine the effectiveness of the nursing intervention plan to reduce anxiety in pre-surgical patients with total abdominal hysterectomy at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute. Materials and methods. The approach of this research corresponds to the quantitative one, and the design to be used will be the quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design with a single group. The population will be made up of 80 pre-surgical patients who are about to undergo total abdominal hysterectomy in the gynecology service of the National Maternal Perinatal Institute, located in Cercado Lima, and the sample will consist of 50 patients from the aforementioned Institute. The sampling will be non-probabilistic of an intentional type. The technique will consist of the survey, with the application of the Zung Anxiety Assessment Scale (EAA). This test includes 20 statements that quantify 15 somatic and 5 cognitive symptoms, each referring to manifestations and characteristics of anxiety, such as symptoms or signs. Regarding the concurrent validity of the instrument, the correlation values obtained indicate significance between the EAA and the Beck depression inventory. Regarding reliability, the correlation coefficients between the EAA and the ASI (Anxiety Sensitivity Index) show a correlation equivalent to 0.66.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis in abdominal surgery to prevent postoperative infections(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Arteaga Carlos, Jackeline; Gómez Gonzales, Walter EdgarMaterials and methods: This is a systematic review, observational and retrospective in nature. The methodology followed a quantitative, descriptive correlational, and cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 80 patients, with a sample of 70, using non-probabilistic sampling. The results indicated a correlation, as the Spearman coefficient was 0.439, confirming a moderate and negative relationship between the variables. This means that as a preoperative patient is less informed, their anxiety level will be higher or more severe, and vice versa. Of the 70 preoperative patients at CIRLAP Clinic in Lima – 2021, 8.6% had low information and moderate anxiety, 58.6% had low information and severe anxiety, 1.4% with medium information had moderate anxiety, and 1.4% had medium information and severe anxiety. When the information level was high, 1.4% had moderate anxiety and 1.4% had severe anxiety, with a significance value of p= 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: A significant correlation between both variables was found. Additionally, a significant correlation was observed between the level of information regarding the type of surgery and the level of anxiety in preoperative patients. However, no correlation was found between the level of information regarding preoperative care assistance and the anxiety level in preoperative patients. Similarly, there was no relationship between the level of information regarding hospitalization time and the level of anxiety in preoperative patients. Finally, a significant relationship was found between the level of information regarding postoperative care and the degree of anxiety in preoperative patients.Ítem Acceso abierto Nursing care and anxiety of patients undergoing surgery in the minor surgery service, public hospital, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-04-30) Culqui Castañeda, Rocio del Pilar; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoIntroduction: Nursing care plays an important role in the face of the patient who is in the preoperative stage, given that surgical interventions directly affect their emotional state, which is why they have presented a problem called preoperative anxiety, therefore, it is the preoperative preparation provided by the nursing staff is of importance. When we talk about quantitative research we refer to the statistical field, this is what this approach is based on, analyzing an objective reality based on numerical measurements and statistical analysis to determine predictions or patterns of behavior of the phenomenon or problem posed.Ítem Acceso abierto Pre-operative information and pre-operative anxiety in patients of the surgery service of a national hospital in Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-09) Guillén Paseta, Tatiana Milagros; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethPreoperative anxiety is diverse, including high readmission rate, prolonged hospital stay, negative influence during anesthetic induction and patient recovery, and decreased patient satisfaction with perioperative care. Mortality and morbidity associated with preoperative anxiety are most likely due to major cardiovascular problems associated with health-related behaviors such as smoking, poor diet, poor treatment compliance or an inactive lifestyle and direct influence on myocardial perfusion. However, the body of evidence on the global prevalence and determinants of preoperative anxiety among surgical patients is still under study. A common low level of anxiety is an expected reaction to unpredictable and potentially life-threatening circumstances, especially for a patient's first surgical experience. However, a higher and prolonged level of preoperative anxiety results in delayed wound healing, in addition to requiring higher doses of anesthetics and poor recovery.Ítem Acceso abierto Preoperative anxiety and coping styles in patients from a clinic in Metropolitan Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-17) Samanez Pimentel, Vanesa Paola; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethThe present study aims to determine the relationship between preoperative anxiety and coping styles to stress in patients at a clinic in Metropolitan Lima. Methodology: A quantitative approach was used to study the variables, with an applied type, hypothetical-deductive method, non-experimental design, and descriptive and correlational level. From a population of 244 patients over two months of care, a representative sample of 150 was obtained through simple random sampling. Two main tests were administered: the Spielberger Anxiety Rating Scale (IDARE) to measure preoperative anxiety and the Brief COPE (Coping Estimation) Questionnaire to assess coping styles. Results: Among the patients surveyed at a clinic in Metropolitan Lima, 57.33% reported a high level of preoperative anxiety, 26.00% had a moderate level, and 16.67% had a low level. Regarding coping styles, 65.33% of the patients exhibited a moderate level of coping styles, 32.00% had a high level, and 2.67% had a low level. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is an inverse and moderate relationship (Rho = -0.519) between preoperative anxiety and coping styles, which is statistically significant (p = 0.000 < 0.050). This means that when preoperative anxiety is high or moderate, coping styles are low.Ítem Acceso abierto Preoperative anxiety and pain management in postoperative patients undergoing abdominal surgery in a hospital in Lima - 2022.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-07-03) Melendez Paredes, Diana Paola; Mori Castro, Jaime AlbertoThe objective of this research project is: To determine the relationship between preoperative anxiety and pain management in postoperative patients undergoing open abdominal surgery in a Lima Hospital - 2022. These instruments were validated and reliable with a Crombach's alpha of 0.942 for the anxiety variable and a Crombach's alpha of 0.77 for the pain management variable and validated with an Aiken V coefficient of 1 for the anxiety variable and p value = 0.013 where p is significant for the pain management variable. The results will be collected through Microsoft Excel 2013 and the SPSS statistical package version 25.0. To be presented in tables and graphs and to evaluate the relationship between two variables, the Kolmogorov test will be used.Ítem Acceso abierto Quality of nursing care and anxiety in preoperative patients hospitalized at CIRLAP Clinic(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-22) Navarro Enrriquez, Mirta Veronica; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: Determine the relationship between quality of nursing care and anxiety in patients in the preoperative stage, hospitalized at the CIRLAP Clinic.
