We found that 30% (3) of the studies were from Mexico, 20% (2) from the United States, and 10% (1) from Turkey, Spain, Brazil, Australia, and Poland, respectively. The majority of studies were systematic reviews, making up 50%, primarily from the United States, Brazil, Spain, and Australia. A further 20% consisted of cross-sectional descriptive studies from Turkey and Mexico, while 10% were cohort, correlational, and cross-sectional studies from Mexico, Poland, and Mexico, respectively. Results: According to the results of the systematic review, 100% (n=10/10) of the articles reviewed show that surgical smoke poses potential health risks to the personnel working in the surgical center. Conclusions: The studies indicate that inhalation of surgical smoke represents a chemical and biological risk factor for personnel working in the operating room.
