Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of chemical indicators compared with biological indicators in certifying the sterilization quality of surgical medical equipment in sterilization units(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-04) Leiva Mucha, Irma Nora; Cárdenas Orcón, Lesvia; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerSystematize the available evidence on the effectiveness of chemical indicators compared to biological indicators in the certification of the quality of sterilization of medical-surgical material in sterilization centers. Materials and methods: The type of study was quantitative, the design corresponds to a systematic review, population 23 articles and the sample is a systematic review of 10 articles, various scientific articles were found and for this the database instrument was used Medline, Lilacs, Pubmed, Sicelo, Intramed. A critical and intensive evaluation of each article was carried out, from which the quality of the evidence and the strength of recommendation for each article was determined through the GRADE Method. Results: Of the total of 10 articles reviewed, 100% (n= 1/10) show that the effectiveness of biological indicators is greater than chemical indicators in the certification of the quality of sterilization of medical surgical material in sterilization centers, however Within the framework of what has been described, we must state that the use of Biological Indicators IBs as a control tool to guarantee success in sterilization processes should not only occur due to the limitations of the rest of the indicators such as chemicals, but also due to the low reliability of these indicators.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of rapid-reading biological indicators compared to conventional biological indicators in the sterilization of biomedical materials(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-25) Begazo Valencia, Virginia Secundina; Machicao Olazabal, Fiorella Nataly; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: To establish the available evidence on the effectiveness of rapid-read biological indicators compared to conventional biological indicators in the sterilization of biomedical materials. Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative study with a systematic review design. The population and sample consisted of 5 articles found in different scientific databases such as Cochrane, Medline, Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo, and Ebsco. Intensive evaluation of each article was conducted, and evidence quality and strength of recommendation were determined using the GRADE method. Results: 100% of the reviewed articles confirm that rapid-read biological indicators provide accurate results and increase the turnover rate of surgical instruments while shortening the long incubation time required by conventional indicators, which typically take 48 hours.Ítem Acceso abierto Efficiency of biological indicators in the quality of sterilization of surgical medical material(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Paiva Vite, Rosa Isabel; Poma Morales, Erika Karina; Mendigure Fernández, JulioObjective: Determine the effectiveness of the use of biological indicators in the quality of sterilization of surgical medical material. Material and methods: Systematic Reviews are an observational and retrospective research design, which synthesizes the results of multiple primary investigations. Results Biological indicators serve to verify the effectiveness of the sterilization process and guarantee that a material is sterile. They consist of standardized preparations of spores of very resistant microorganisms, which are processed in the sterilizer to check whether or not they have been destroyed and, therefore, whether or not the sterilization process has been carried out. Conclusions: Biological indicators are effective and the only means available to confirm the sterilization of an article.Ítem Acceso abierto Use of biological indicators in the control of sterilization of dental surgical instruments(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-25) Mori Pizarro, Ludit; Suaña Samán, Elizabeth Elisa; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleObjective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the use of biological indicators in the control of sterilization of dental surgical instruments: Materials and methods: qualitative type of study design, systematic reviews. The 10 pieces of evidence found according to the type of research, 30% (3/10) are experimental, 10% (1/10) quasi-experimental and 60% (6/10) transversal, 30% of the evidence found comes from from Mexico and 20% from Brazil and 10% from Poland, Argentina, Iran, India and Venezuela respectively. Results: The results obtained from the systematic review show that, of the total of 10 articles reviewed, 100% (n=10/10) show that biological indicators are effective to ensure and guarantee the sterilization of dental surgical instruments, a process that It is in charge of specialist nurses in hospital sterilization centers and in the private sector. It is still a space that deserves more studies and will probably be another scenario for the work of specialist nurses in the future. Conclusion: The 10 reviewed articles are 100% effective in ensuring and guaranteeing the sterilization of dental surgical instruments, and the biological indicators allow the certification of quality in sterilization processes.
