The objective of this secondary research was to identify scientific articles of clinical studies related to the topic of the importance of dietary intervention (consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, low consumption of saturated fatty acids and simple sugars) in the treatment and clinical manifestations of SLE. The clinical question was: Will dietary intervention improve the health status of patients diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information was carried out in PUBMED, READY BY QxMD, Science direct and SCOPUS, finding 36 articles, 15 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Systematic Review titled as The impact of a diet low in calories and low glycemic index in systemic lupus erythematosus: a systematic review, which has a level of evidence A and Grade of Recommendation I. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that nutritional intervention has a positive effect on quality of life and on possible clinical correlations of biochemical values of blood lipids (high-density lipoproteins, low-density lipoproteins, triglyceride levels) in patients diagnosed with SLE.
