Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effect of omega-3 supplementation on indicators of cardiovascular health in adults with diabetes mellitus.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-08-25) Cachay Barboza, Edwar Paul; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetHyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and hypertriglyceridemia, characteristic conditions of diabetes mellitus, are closely related to greater cardiovascular damage and this leads to a higher rate of morbidity and mortality, lower quality of life, and higher costs in the health care system. The objective was to analyze the effect of omega-3 supplementation on reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in adults with diabetes mellitus. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 165 articles, 11 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the article “An omega-3 fatty acid plasma index ≥4% prevents progression of coronary artery plaque in patients with coronary artery disease on statin treatment”, which has a level of evidence A I and Grade of Strong Recommendation. In conclusion, supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids in doses between 1 to 4 g/day does not support the recommendations for use in people with diabetes mellitus and/or with a history of coronary heart disease for the prevention or reduction of fatal coronary heart disease. non-fatal myocardial infarction or any other cardiovascular event.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of rectal temperature measurement versus infrared tympanic temperature measurement in neonates(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-12) Fasabi Amasifuen, Angelica; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerObjective: To analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of rectal temperature measurement versus tympanic infrared temperature measurement in neonates. Materials and Methods: The study conducted is a quantitative comparative design with a systematic review. The population consisted of 40 articles, of which 10 articles were selected based on the research study, as only these articles were relevant to the topic under investigation. The databases used were Elsevier, Lilax, Ebsco, Epistemonikos, PubMed, and Cochrane. A critical and intensive evaluation of each article was performed, and based on this, the quality of evidence and strength of recommendation for each article were determined using the GRADE method. Results: From the systematic review of the articles, 100% of the articles showed that 20% were from the USA, Turkey, and Nigeria, respectively, and 10% from India, Chile, and Sudan. Regarding the effectiveness of rectal temperature measurement versus tympanic infrared temperature measurement, 80% (n=10/8) agreed that rectal temperature measurement is more effective and safer in neonate interventions; from this, it can be inferred that it can be implemented in clinical settings. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles, 8 demonstrated the effectiveness of rectal temperature measurement using a mercury glass thermometer in newborn interventions (neonates).Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the Glasgow Blatchford scale in predicting treatment needs in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in emergency services(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-05) Carhuaricra Ciriaco, Ana María; Castillo López, Mauricio; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MaríaObjective: To demonstrate the effectiveness of the Glasgow Blatchford scale in predicting the need for treatment of patients with upper digestive bleeding. Material and Methods: A systematic review of international research is carried out, obtained through databases: Epistemonikos, NCBI, PubMed, Elsevier, and Scielo, which have been analyzed in the GRADE system. The search has been carried out using the DECS and MESH descriptors for the search in Spanish and English respectively. 30% (3/10) of the articles reviewed correspond to China, and the remaining 70% (7/10) correspond to Canada, Jamaica, Holland, Vietnam, India, Turkey, and Mexico respectively. Results: 80% (08/10) of the evidence indicates the effectiveness of the Glasgow Blatchford scale in predicting the need for treatment of patients with upper digestive bleeding and 20% (2/10) indicates the non-effectiveness of The Blatchford scale in predicting the need for treatment of patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in emergency services. Conclusions: 8 of 10 evidence demonstrate that the Glasgow Blatchford scale is effective in predicting the need for treatment of patients with upper digestive bleeding, and 2 of 10 evidence demonstrate that the Glasgow Blatchford scale is ineffective in predicting the need for treatment. need for treatment of patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in emergency services.
