Effectiveness of renal therapy substitution in reducing morbidity and mortality in patients in the renal unit
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-08) Juarez Reyes, Noemi Pilar; Lenes Ticona, Rina Isabel; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo Amado
Objective: To analyze the evidence on the effectiveness of Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) in reducing morbidity and mortality in patients with Chronic Renal Failure (CKD). Material and methods: A systematic observational and retrospective review was carried out, subjected to critical selection, through the Grade evaluation system to identify the degree of bibliographic evidence in March 2019. In databases such as Google Scholar, Scielo, Medline, Nephrology Magazine of the Spanish Society of Nephrology, Elsevier, the virtual magazine of global Nursing, the virtual magazine of intensive medicine of Mexico, Cuba, Chile and Spain. Only articles published between 2009 and March 2019 were included. The search was carried out only in Spanish. Results: It was evident that if there is a relationship between the application of Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) and the decrease in morbidity and mortality in patients with Chronic Renal Failure (CKD), it is related to a greater extent to an early start, a younger age of the patient (<50 years) and at a lower frequency of application of Renal Replacement Therapy than required (minimum 3 times per week). Conclusion: the application of Renal Replacement Therapy or Renal Replacement does reduce morbidity and mortality in patients with CKD, and presents better results if applied at an early stage.

Effectiveness of using bilateral internal mammary artery grafts versus single grafts in adult patients undergoing coronary revascularization surgery
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Capillo Reynaldo, Iris; Felipe Porras, Sandra Eulalia; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa Maria
Objective: To systematize the evidence on the efficacy of bilateral internal mammary artery grafting versus single grafting in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in adult patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. Materials and Methods: Of the 10 scientific pieces of evidence analyzed, 40% (4/10) were meta-analyses, 30% (3/10) were systematic reviews, 10% (1/10) were cohort studies, and 20% (2/10) were case-control studies. Results: According to the review, 90% (9/10) of the evidence shows that bilateral internal mammary artery grafting (BIMA) is more beneficial in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in patients undergoing coronary revascularization, while 10% (1/10) of the found evidence states that the reduction in mortality was observed in patients who received a single mammary artery graft. Conclusions: The use of bilateral internal mammary artery grafting demonstrates greater efficacy compared to single grafting in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in adult patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery.

Efficacy of early initiation of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients in the intensive care service
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Loyola Figueroa, Flor de Maria; Castañeda Naupari, Catalina; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, Oriana
Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of early initiation of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit service. Materials and methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review. Of which 30% are systematic reviews, 40% are cohort studies and a smaller percentage are 30% correlational, cross-sectional and retrospective studies. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, 40% (04) correspond to Brazil, 20% correspond to Spain, and (02) correspond to Mexico, while 10% (01) are found in California, and (01) in cuba respectively, of the total number of articles analyzed, 90% affirm that the early start of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients before 48 hours improves intestinal permeability by reducing bacterial translocation, and reduces morbidity and mortality. Conclusions: early initiation of enteral nutrition with good nutritional support improves the nutritional status of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, reducing other complications, in-hospital infections and hospital stay.

Efficiency of descending conductivity and ultrafiltration profiles in renal patients
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) Medina Rujel, Blanca Esmidia; Casanotán Ayay, Nadia Bernabita; Mendigure Fernández, Julio
Objective: Systematize the available evidence on the efficiency of descending conductivity and ultrafiltration profiles in renal patients on hemodialysis. Methodology: This is a Systematic Review of 10 articles in the MEDLINE, PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO database, whose search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles were subjected to critical reading, using the Sackett evaluation. to identify its level of evidence. Results: With the use of descending conductivity and ultrafiltration profiles, renal patients on hemodialysis have better tolerance to the treatment, their application reduces intradialytic complications such as hypotension, cramps, nausea, vomiting and headaches, and also allows the patient to complete in a stable manner. its treatment time and helps it maintain an adequate dry weight since it is possible to sequester all the accumulated volume. All of this leads to the patient reaching their ideal dialysis dose goal, making hemodialysis a safe and effective treatment that benefits their quality of life. Conclusion: In light of the evidence, the effectiveness of descending conductivity and ultrafiltration profiles in improving the care of renal patients is concluded by verifying that they reduce intradialytic complications, help maintain the patient's dry weight and improve morbidity and mortality rates. in hemodialysis treatment, improving their quality of life.

Nursing knowledge and practice in the cleaning and disinfection process of surgical material, Huacho Regional Hospital 2020
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-11-29) Pichilingue Curioso, Lili Imelda; Fernández Rengifo, Werther Fernando
When asepsis, antisepsis, cleaning, and disinfection were introduced, morbidity and mortality rates decreased considerably from 80% to 10%, but population demand and the current state of health of the population, lifestyles, and the failure of Health systems with respect to the resource of surgical materials increase the morbidity and mortality rate by a large percentage. Also, it is necessary to evaluate if the clinical practice guidelines respond to the needs of the population, or if it is the health personnel who fails in the cleaning and disinfection procedure of the material to be used in surgery. Researchers from all over the world have been interested in the cleaning and disinfection procedure, so they mention that cleaning surgical material is equally effective in reducing germs with an alcoholic solution or with an aqueous solution, referring to the enzymatic detergent. It is necessary to mention that the reuse of surgical instruments carries with it the risk of cross infection, in addition to the fact that the cleaning and disinfection procedure is very cumbersome, takes a lot of time, expensive and prone to error.

Zinc supplementation in morbidity and mortality due to Covid-19
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-12-11) Sucasaca Rojas, Juan Kenty; Bohórquez Medina, Sofia Lorena
Zinc supplementation could help reduce morbidity and mortality in patients affected by COVID-19. This secondary research, titled as a critical review: 'ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION IN COVID-19 MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY,' aims to analyze whether zinc supplementation contributes to preventing exacerbation, controlling symptoms, and improving final outcomes. The clinical question was: What is the effect of zinc supplementation on COVID-19 morbidity and mortality? A critical review was conducted using the NuBE (Evidence-Based Nutrition) methodology. Scientific articles were searched in 'PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct, WOS, and SCOPUS,' yielding 43 articles, of which 14 were included in this research and evaluated using 'CASPe' ('Critical Appraisal Skills Programme'), ultimately selecting the meta-analysis titled 'Zinc supplementation and COVID-19 mortality: a meta-analysis,' which has an 'A II level of evidence' and 'Strong Recommendation Grade.' The critical commentary concluded that zinc supplementation in COVID-19 patients could help reduce mortality rates.
