(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-29) Damas Quispe, Vanesa Lesly; Uturunco Vera, Milagros Lizbeth
Objective: To determine the level of academic stress and fear of contracting coronavirus in ninth-cycle university students from the Nursing School - Norbert Wiener Private University – 2021. Materials and Methods: The inductive-deductive method was used for this basic research, which has a quantitative approach and a descriptive design. The SISCO academic stress instrument by Barraza, adapted by Alania, Llancari, Rafaele, and Ortega (2020), was applied. This instrument consisted of 47 items and three dimensions (stressors, symptoms, coping strategies), with a reliability of 0.88 in Cronbach's alpha. Additionally, the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) by Ahorsu (2020), composed of 7 items and two dimensions (emotional fear reactions and fear expressions), was used. Regarding the main problem, it was observed that the academic stress variable had 64.29% representing a medium level, while the fear of contracting coronavirus variable showed 78.6%, representing a high level. Conclusions: The research reveals significant levels of academic stress and fear of contracting coronavirus, influenced by the ongoing health crisis we are currently experiencing.

Factors that influence depression in long-stay geriatric patients
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-08-24) Cancio Nuñez, Virginia Estefania; Cordero Bravo, María Del Carmen; Gómez Gonzales, Walter Edgar
Objective: Systematize evidence on the factors that influence depression in long-stay geriatric patients. Results: The articles found, 14 of them, indicate that the factors that influence depression in the elderly are: 1.- Socio-demographic factor (female sex, incomplete primary education, illiteracy, grief, chronic degenerative diseases, entry into residence, fear to death, neurological and psychiatric disorders, marital status, high levels of anxiety, institutionalized less than 1 year), 2.- Economic Factor: low income, type of home, poor social support, dependency economic3.- ABVD factor: functional dependence, sedentary lifestyle, partially dependent women, dependence on some of the ABVD, polypharmacy, urinary incontinence, falls, sleep disorder. Conclusion: The socio-demographic, economic and ABDL factors described in the results influence depression in older adults. The same process of institutionalization has been documented by some authors as a trigger for depressive processes, and some authors propose how institutionalization in residences is associated with factors that favor the appearance of depressive symptoms or symptoms and that can lead to an increase in the prevalence of this process.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), this virus acts by attacking the body's defenses, this disease has affected many countries and currently represents one of the greatest concerns in different sectors of the government. Nursing professionals are the first line in the care of patients with HIV-AIDS, the knowledge that they may have about the disease will lead to the provision of human quality care. Likewise, it is important to highlight that there are studies that demonstrate that high levels of anxiety generate fear in health professionals regarding the contagion of this disease, which influences the attitudes that nursing staff may demonstrate while caring for patients with this disease. Nursing staff must carry out their profession with great responsibility and professional ethics.

Pre-operative information and pre-operative anxiety in patients of the surgery service of a national hospital in Lima, 2021
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-09) Guillén Paseta, Tatiana Milagros; Uturunco Vera, Milagros Lizbeth
Preoperative anxiety is diverse, including high readmission rate, prolonged hospital stay, negative influence during anesthetic induction and patient recovery, and decreased patient satisfaction with perioperative care. Mortality and morbidity associated with preoperative anxiety are most likely due to major cardiovascular problems associated with health-related behaviors such as smoking, poor diet, poor treatment compliance or an inactive lifestyle and direct influence on myocardial perfusion. However, the body of evidence on the global prevalence and determinants of preoperative anxiety among surgical patients is still under study. A common low level of anxiety is an expected reaction to unpredictable and potentially life-threatening circumstances, especially for a patient's first surgical experience. However, a higher and prolonged level of preoperative anxiety results in delayed wound healing, in addition to requiring higher doses of anesthetics and poor recovery.
