Nutritional intervention is the process aimed at maintaining an adequate weight and body composition, timely symptom control throughout the development of a pathology, and proper hydration status. The present secondary research, titled "Critical Review: Palliative Care in Advanced Cancer Patients," aimed to explore the management of Enteral Nutrition via Nasogastric Tube in Palliative Care patients and its effects on improving quality of life. The clinical question was: What is the current approach to palliative care in patients with advanced cancer? Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was conducted in PUBMED/MEDLINE, EMBASE, SCOPUS, WOS, SCIENCE DIRECT, yielding 31 articles, of which 21 were selected and evaluated with the CASPE tool. The final selected systematic review was titled "Enteral Nutrition by Nasogastric Tube in Adult Patients under Palliative Care: A Systematic Review," which has an AI evidence level and strong recommendation grade according to the author’s expertise. The critical commentary concluded that there are no studies with statistically significant results providing clear evidence about the well-being and quality of life in palliative care patients receiving Enteral Nutrition through a nasogastric tube. Therefore, this technique should be used individually, evaluating its benefits and drawbacks for each patient.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-15) Mendoza Espinoza, Kenjhy Pricila; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea Lisbet
Nowadays there are more people diagnosed with cancer, being common to find oncological patients with malnutrition, on the other hand there are different methods of nutritional evaluation, some present limitations and their results can be influenced by factors not necessarily nutritional, for this reason the developed investigation that has as title "Critical Review: Phase Angle and Nutritional Status in people with cancer", had as objective to determine if the phase angle can be related to the nutritional status in patients with cancer. The clinical question was: Can phase angle be related to nutritional status in cancer patients? The Nutrition Based on Evidence (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information was performed in the databases: PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, BVSALUD, SCIELO, BJHR, SCOPUS and EMBASE. As a result of this search, 35 articles were found, of which 22 were selected and evaluated with the CASPE critical reading tool. The cross-sectional clinical study of a cohort entitled "Ângulo de Fase e Estado Nutricional em Indivíduos com Câncer Avançado em Cuidados Paliativos" was chosen for this critical review, which has a BII level of evidence and a STRONG degree of evidence. The critical review allows concluding that individuals with worse nutritional status have lower phase angle values.

Effectiveness of parenteral nutrition in the improvement of body mass index in hospitalized adult patients with neoplasias of the digestive tract
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-29) Vilchez Vite, Juliana Lizbeth; Mamani Rosales, Lucia Valeria; Bonilla Asalde, César Antonio
Objective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of parenteral nutrition in improving body mass index in hospitalized adult patients with digestive tract neoplasms. Material and Methods: Systematic reviews are an observational and retrospective research design that synthesizes the results of multiple secondary studies. The population includes 10 scientific articles considered as the bibliographic observation units, published and indexed in scientific databases. Data collection was carried out through a thorough, rigorous, and systematic review using websites such as Scielo, NCBI, Dialnet, among others. Results: Articles: Netherlands 10% (1/10), Taiwan 10% (1/10), France 10% (1/10), Mexico 10% (1/10), China 30% (3/10), Germany 20% (2/10), and Cuba 10% (1/10). Furthermore, the reviewed scientific studies included a prospective design in 50% (5/10), clinical trials in 30% (3/10), cross-sectional studies in 10% (2/10), and systematic reviews in 10% (1/10). Conclusion: According to the results obtained from the systematic review, it is shown that, of the total 10 articles reviewed, 100% (n=10/10) indicate that parenteral nutrition in hospitalized adult patients with digestive tract neoplasms is effective in improving body mass index. This is because BMI parameters in cancer patients promote nutritional support control. However, most of these patients experience malnutrition, which is more prevalent than obesity.
