Various studies have investigated the role of omega 3 in obesity, with scattered results that do not allow their recommendation. This study is titled: critical review: Correlation of dietary or supplemental omega-3 consumption and malnutrition due to excess; The objective was to correlate the consumption of omega 3 with malnutrition due to excess and to make a critical comment on the selected article. The clinical question was: Is the consumption of dietary or supplemental Omega 3 beneficial in the treatment of men and women over 18 years of age with overweight or obesity? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE), information was searched in PUBMED, SCOPUS, REDALYC and HINARI, finding 37 articles, of which 16 were evaluated through the CASPE tool, selecting the systematic review: Effects of omega-3 supplementation on body weight and body fat mass: A systematic review, with AI level of evidence and Strong recommendation grade. It is concluded that there is no consensus that omega-3 is beneficial in losing weight or body fat mass in humans.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: Chronobiology in the treatment of obesity and the metabolic syndrome.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-03-16) Enciso Rios, Raquel Roxana; Dávila Córdova, Jennifer EstefaniaThe present secondary research titled as a critical review: Chronobiology in the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome. The clinical question was: Is chronobiology effective in the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information in the PUBMED, SCIELO and Science Direct databases, finding 23 articles, 8 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally taking into account the Randomized Clinical Trial entitled “Effect of an adjusted diet to chronotype on the effectiveness of weight loss: A randomized clinical trial”, which has a level of evidence I and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that the nutritional intervention appropriate to the chronotype is more effective than the traditional hypocaloric diet in obese patients, for weight loss and a decrease in abdominal circumference, however, it has been anticipated that it is necessary to take other components, such as, social and behavioral factors. On the other hand, greater findings related to the components of the metabolic syndrome are expected in subsequent research.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: impact of obesity on the inflammatory response and morbidity and mortality of patients with Covid-19(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-11) De La Cruz Loayza, Corina Amparo; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetSARS-CoV-2 is a virus that affects humans by having the ability to bind to the cells of the nasal epithelium, the bronchial epithelium and the functional unit of the lung, the pneumocyte. This coupling is through the spike protein. Likewise, obesity, like COVID-19, has been considered a pandemic. The Evidence-Based Nutrition methodology was applied, through its 5 principles, a search was carried out on five. The information search was carried out in Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Pubmed/Medline and Science Direct, of which 16 were selected for analysis through the CASPe critical reading evaluation. The selected article is titled: “Obesity aggravates COVID-19: A systematic review and meta-analysis”, obtained an IA level of evidence as a critical reading rating and a strong recommendation grade due to its methodology. According to the selected article, patients with severe COVID19 have a higher body mass index than non-severe patients; Likewise, they were more affected and had a worse outcome than those who did not have obesity, which is why this condition can aggravate COVID-19.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: influence of bariatric surgery on the quality of life of obese patients.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-03) Torres Vega, Elvia; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetObesity is one of the most prevalent public health problems today. Likewise, bariatric surgery is also an excellent alternative as the fastest method of weight loss. The purpose of this study, defined as a critical review, entitled: Influence of bariatric surgery on the quality of life of obese patients, was to determine the impact of bariatric surgery on the quality of life, both physical and intellectual, of obese patients. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodological scheme was used. To carry out the information search, the databases were used: PUBMED, EMBASE, SCOPUS and WEB OF SCIENCE. 155 articles were found, of which 20 were selected. Likewise, the selected articles were evaluated using the CASPE critical reading instrument. Finally, the Systematic Review and Meta-analysis titled “Long-term health-related quality of life in patients who have undergone bariatric surgery: systematic review and meta-analysis” was selected, which has a level of evidence IA and Grade of Recommendation. Strong, according to the researcher's expertise. The critical comment made it possible to determine that more studies are needed to specify the benefits in the mental domain of bariatric surgery in the long term. However, there is evidence available that shows the impact of bariatric surgery in obese patients on mood, depression and anxiety. What is certain is that bariatric surgery is one of the treatments with short and long-term results for weight reduction and therefore on some aspects of mental health and the correct approach will allow us better adherence to the treatment and therefore improve the health of patients.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical Review: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-01-08) Gutierrez Alarcón, Guillermo; Lozada Urbano, Michelle FátimaThe present research defined as a critical review, with the title: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer, aimed to identify the direct and indirect relationship of obesity and its influence on the onset of ovarian cancer in pre- and post-menopausal women. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (Cloud) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, HINARI, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 78 articles, of which 30 were selected that have been evaluated through the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Systematic Review entitled Obesity and risk of ovarian cancer: a systematic review, which has a level of evidence IIA and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical commentary allowed us to conclude that more research is needed to determine the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the risk of ovarian cancer in obese women. However, there is evidence available that links obesity with some histological subtypes of ovarian cancer. More studies are needed to establish this relationship by histological subtypes of ovarian cancer related to obesity.Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: probiotic supplementation in the management of overweight or obese patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-01-26) Champa Gonzales, María Julia; Bohórquez Medina, Sofia LorenaThe secondary research titled 'Probiotic Supplementation for the Management of Overweight or Obese Patients' aimed to determine the effect of probiotic supplementation in managing overweight or obese adult patients. But long-term persistence is difficult. It can be a therapeutic diet model. Some newly diagnosed overweight or obese people with type 2 diabetes may benefit from weight loss, and some patients can achieve good glucose control in the blood in a short term without medication.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a physical activity program and the distance traveled in obese patients SISOL, Lima metropolitan 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-01) Leon Güere, Any Severa; Diaz Mau, Aimee YajairaObesity is a chronic non-communicable disease that impacts various pathologies such as cardiovascular diseases, stroke, type II diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and others.
