Oral cancer is a disease that is difficult to detect in its early stages, which is when the patient has the best chance of successful oncological treatment. Globally, cancer represents a pathology with considerable consequences, considering that it still lacks an effective cure, particularly in advanced stages. It also leads to economic consequences, creating unfavorable effects in various countries, especially in less-developed ones. Oral cancer accounts for two to four percent of all cancer diagnoses, with ninety percent of these cases being squamous cell carcinoma, which constitutes ninety percent of all malignant neoplasms. It is a non-communicable, chronic disease with a high burden and a projected increase in the coming years.
