Ítem Acceso abierto La temperatura de la lidocaína al 2% y la intensidad del dolor e inicio de acción en pacientes que acuden a la Clínica Dental Víctor Raúl Haya De la Torre - Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-24) Pomacosi Mayta, Cindy Bell; Marroquín García, Lorenzo EnriqueThe objective of this study was to determine the effect of 2% lidocaine temperature on pain intensity and onset time in patients attending the VRHT dental clinic – Lima 2022. The study was experimental, applied, analytical, and cross-sectional, involving 70 adult patients. The variables were the temperature of 2% lidocaine and pain intensity and onset time, using a temperature indicator thermometer and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). For onset time, the time in seconds from the injection to the numbness effect was recorded. An experimental group (lidocaine at 37°C) and a control group (normal lidocaine) were used. The experimental group showed an average onset time of 85 ± 26 seconds, whereas the control group had a significantly higher average of 152 ± 28 seconds. In the experimental group, 40.0% (14 patients) experienced no pain, and 60.0% (21 patients) reported mild pain. In contrast, in the control group, none reported no pain; 51.4% (18 patients) experienced mild pain, and 48.6% (17 patients) had moderate pain, indicating a statistically significant difference in pain intensity between the two groups (p=0.000). However, the p-value of 0.083 indicates no significant difference in pain intensity between men and women. Female patients in the experimental group had a shorter average onset time of 78.94 seconds. It is concluded that 2% lidocaine administered at 37°C presents a faster onset time and results in lower pain incidence in the evaluated patients.
