Ítem Acceso abierto Perception of risk factors at work associated with musculoskeletal symptoms among dentistry students and teachers at the Norbert Wiener Private University - Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-05) Garay Llacsa, Sandra Betty; Vilchez Bellido, DinaThe objective of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between the perception of risk factors and the occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms in dental students and faculty at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener in Lima during 2023. A quantitative approach and a hypothetical-deductive method with an observational correlational design, non-experimental and cross-sectional, were used with a sample of 90 students and 30 faculty members from the School of Dentistry. The results showed that 79.2% of the respondents had a regular perception of the risk factors present in their workplace, while 14.2% perceived them as low and 6.7% perceived them as high. Regarding musculoskeletal symptoms, 55% of participants experienced mild symptoms, 40.8% presented moderate symptoms, and 4.2% faced severe symptoms. A positive but weak correlation (Rho = 0.322) was found between risk factors and musculoskeletal symptoms, indicating a weak but significant association between both. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the existence of a relationship between the perception of risk factors and the manifestation of musculoskeletal symptoms in dental students and faculty at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener in Lima during 2023.
