Ítem Acceso abierto Abuse of social networks and self-control in secondary school students of the Chorrillos district, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-27) Horta Velayarce, Ana María; Tamayo Toro, Mónica Alexandra420 secondary school students were studied in a non-probabilistic sample to check the relationship between social media abuse and self-control. The Social Media Addiction Scale (ARS) by Miguel Escurra and Edwin Salas and the Child and Adolescent Self-Control Questionnaire (CACIA) by Capafóns Bonet and Silva Moreno, adapted for the Peruvian context, were used. The results indicated that 41.6% of the participants were at a moderate level of social media abuse and 31.1% were at a regular level of self-control. Additionally, statistically significant differences were found in the obsession component (U = 19835.0; p = .003) and social media abuse (U = 20287.5; p = .010) by gender. Statistically significant differences were also found in the lack of control over social media use (X2 = 6.599; p = .037) and social media abuse (X2 = 5.919; p = .042) by age. A quantitative, correlational approach was employed with a non-experimental design. The Video Game Addiction Test by Chóliz and Marco and the Social Skills Scale by Gismero were applied to a sample of 136 students, 17.6% female and 82.4% male. It was found that video game addiction did not significantly correlate with social skills (rho = -0.11; p > 0.05), indicating that if students develop video game addiction, their social skills will not be affected. Pedro Gálvez Egúsquiza. This study was quantitative, with a correlational level, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design. The Social Media Addiction Questionnaire and the Body Image Dissatisfaction Questionnaire were applied to 151 secondary school students. It was found that body image is significantly correlated with social media addiction (rho = 0.445; p < 0.01), positively and moderately. This means that students with a high level of social media addiction are more likely to develop body image dissatisfaction. The hypothetical-deductive method was followed, applying a quantitative procedure without variable manipulation, using instruments only once. The instruments used were the Young Internet Addiction Test and the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The results affirmed that both variables are directly and significantly correlated with a low association (rho=.361; p<.05). The study adhered to the guidelines of a quantitative, correlational, descriptive, and comparative method, and followed a non-experimental, cross-sectional approach. A social media addiction questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory were used for data collection. The study included 154 female and 65 male participants. Results revealed that social media use and depressive symptoms were significantly positively correlated. Similarly, the dimensions of both variables showed a correlation. The objective was to determine the correlation between social media use and aggression. The study had a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and comparative approach, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 192 students. The Social Media Addiction Questionnaire (ARS) and the Aggression Questionnaire-AQ by Buss and Perry were used. The results indicate a significant weak correlation between social media use and aggression (Rho = 0.242). According to gender, no differences were found in overall social media use or excessive use, but significant differences were found in obsession and lack of control in favor of males. The sample consisted of 297 adolescents, aged 12 to 17, who were assessed using the HAMM-1ST Video Game Addiction Scale and the Aggression Questionnaire-AQ. Statistical analysis showed a moderate and significant positive correlation between video game addiction and aggression (rho = 0.448; p < 0.01), indicating that students with higher video game addiction levels are more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior.
