Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of using bilateral internal mammary artery grafts versus single grafts in adult patients undergoing coronary revascularization surgery(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Capillo Reynaldo, Iris; Felipe Porras, Sandra Eulalia; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To systematize the evidence on the efficacy of bilateral internal mammary artery grafting versus single grafting in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in adult patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. Materials and Methods: Of the 10 scientific pieces of evidence analyzed, 40% (4/10) were meta-analyses, 30% (3/10) were systematic reviews, 10% (1/10) were cohort studies, and 20% (2/10) were case-control studies. Results: According to the review, 90% (9/10) of the evidence shows that bilateral internal mammary artery grafting (BIMA) is more beneficial in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in patients undergoing coronary revascularization, while 10% (1/10) of the found evidence states that the reduction in mortality was observed in patients who received a single mammary artery graft. Conclusions: The use of bilateral internal mammary artery grafting demonstrates greater efficacy compared to single grafting in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in adult patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of using bilateral internal mammary artery grafts versus single grafts in adult patients undergoing coronary revascularization surgery(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-03) Capillo Reynaldo, Iris; Felipe Porras, Sandra Eulalia; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To systematize the evidence on the efficacy of bilateral internal mammary artery grafting versus single grafting in reducing morbidity and mortality and increasing survival in adult patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery.
