Conocimiento sobre el método canguro y actitudes en madres de recién nacidos prematuros en el servicio de neonatología de un hospital del Callao, 2024

Abstract

Introducción: El presente estudio se centra en los conocimientos y actitudes de las madres hacia el método canguro, una estrategia de cuidados neonatales que promueve el contacto piel con piel entre madre e hijo, especialmente en casos de prematuridad o bajo peso al nacer. Se ha demostrado que este método mejora la salud y el bienestar neonatales al favorecer la regulación de la temperatura, la lactancia materna y el vínculo emocional entre madre e hijo. Sin embargo, a pesar de sus beneficios demostrados, la aplicación del método del canguro puede verse obstaculizada por la falta de información y las percepciones de las madres sobre su eficacia y uso en el entorno hospitalario. En consecuencia, el propósito de este estudio es evaluar los conceptos y actitudes de las madres hacia el método canguro, identificando barreras y facilitadores que puedan influir en su adopción, para contribuir a la mejora de las prácticas de atención neonatal y a la promoción de la salud materno-infantil en el contexto actual. Objetivo: la relación entre el conocimiento y la actitud sobre el método canguro en madres de recién nacidos prematuros. Métodos: Este estudio utilizará el método de hipotético-deductivo, cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La población estará formada por 75 madres que realizan el método canguro. Se utilizarán dos instrumentos estructurados y validados: “Conocimiento de las madres sobre método canguro” y “Actitud de las madres sobre el método canguro”. Además, se utilizará el programa estadístico SPSS versión 26 para procesar los datos y la prueba Rho de Speraman para contrastar las hipótesis del estudio.

Introduction: The present study focuses on mothers' knowledge and attitudes towards the kangaroo method, a neonatal care strategy that promotes skin-to-skin contact between mother and infant, especially in cases of prematurity or low birth weight. This method has been shown to improve neonatal health and well-being by promoting temperature regulation, breastfeeding and emotional bonding between mother and infant. However, despite its demonstrated benefits, implementation of the kangaroo method may be hampered by lack of information and mothers' perceptions of its efficacy and use in the hospital setting. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to assess mothers' concepts and attitudes towards the kangaroo method, identifying barriers and facilitators that may influence its adoption, in order to contribute to the improvement of neonatal care practices and the promotion of maternal and child health in the current context. Objective: the relationship between knowledge and attitude about the kangaroo method in mothers of preterm newborns. Methods: This study will use the hypothetical-deductive, quantitative, non experimental, cross-sectional and correlational method. The population will consist of 75 mothers who perform the kangaroo method. Two structured and validated instruments will be used: “Mothers‘ knowledge of the kangaroo method” and “Mothers’ attitude towards the kangaroo method”. In addition, the SPSS version 26 statistical program will be used to process the data and Speraman's Rho test will be used to contrast the hypotheses of the study.
