| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | In old age, higher levels of physical activity are associated with better functional capacity; however, this profile has not been widely described in older adults treated at a medical center in Callao, which limits the planning of health promotion and rehabilitation interventions. Objective: To determine the association between fall risk and functional capacity in older adults treated at a medical therapy center during 2025. Materials and Methods: An applied study with a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, correlational scope, and cross sectional design was conducted, including a census of 100 adults aged 60 years and older. Participants were assessed using validated instruments to measure fall risk and functional capacity. Results: Participants’ ages ranged from 60 to over 80 years, with a predominance of females (51.0%). A high, inverse, and statistically significant association was found between fall risk and functional capacity (Spearman’s Rho = -0.706; p < 0.001), indicating that as fall risk increases, functional capacity decreases. Conclusions: There is a significant, high, and inverse relationship between fall risk and functional capacity, showing that higher levels of risk are associated with decreased functional capacity. This finding highlights the importance of comprehensively assessing and addressing both factors in geriatric rehabilitation programs to prevent falls and preserve autonomy and safety in older adults. | en_US |
