Relación entre el biotipo facial y el tipo de arco dentario en pacientes atendidos en un centro odontológico privado, Lima 2023

Abstract

El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relación entre el biotipo facial y el tipo de arco dentario en pacientes de un centro odontológico privado, Lima 2023. Este fue un estudio no experimental y retrospectivo en donde la población del estudio estuvo conformada por 60 historias clínicas donde se incluyeron los registros radiográficos y modelos de estudio, la técnica de recolección de datos fue la observación directa y el instrumento fue una ficha de recolección, donde se registraron los datos del biotipo facial según el análisis de VERT Rickets y el tipo de arco determinado mediante el uso plantillas Orthoform 3MUnitek, además de utilizar como covariable el sexo y edad de los pacientes, para formular tablas estadísticas descriptivas e inferenciales. Resultados: En estadística inferencial entre ambas variables principales del estudio se obtuvo un p valor igual a 0.000 siendo el más frecuente el tipo de arco triangular con el biotipo dolicofacialsevero (13,3%), el arco ovoide en el biotipo mesofacial (41.7%) y el arco cuadrado con el braquifacial (11.7%), según la covariable sexo se obtuvo un p = 0.000 y según la covariable edad se obtuvo un p = 0.000 ambos significantes. Conclusión: Existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre el biotipo facial y el tipo de arco dentario en pacientes de un centro odontológico privado, Lima 2023, indicando que el arco dentario cuadrado se relacionó fuertemente con el biotipo braquifacial y el tipo de arco triangular en el biotipo facial dolicofacial severo.

The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between facial biotype and dental arch type in patients from a private dental center, Lima 2023. This was a non-experimental and retrospective study where the study population consisted of 60 medical records where radiographic records and study models were included, the data collection technique was direct documentary review and the instrument was a collection form, where the data of the facial biotype were recorded according to the VERT Rickets analysis and the type of arch determined by using Orthoform 3MUnitek templates, in addition to using the sex and age of the patients as covariates, to formulate descriptive and inferential statistical tables. English: Results: In inferential statistics between both main variables of the study, a p value equal to 0.000 was obtained, the most frequent being the triangular arch type with the severe dolichofacial biotype (13.3%), the ovoid arch in the mesofacial biotype (41.7%) and the square arch with the brachyfacial (11.7%), according to the covariate sex a p = 0.000 was obtained and according to the covariate age a p = 0.000 was obtained, both significant. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between the facial biotype and the type of dental arch in patients from a private dental center, Lima 2023, indicating that the square dental arch was strongly related to the brachyfacial biotype and the triangular arch type in the severe dolichofacial facial biotype.
