Incapacidad física por dolor lumbar y la movilidad funcional en adultos mayores que asisten a un centro geriátrico, Lima – 2025

Abstract

El estudio presento como objetivo “Determinar la relación entre la incapacidad física por dolor lumbar y la movilidad funcional en adultos mayores que asisten a un centro geriátrico, Lima- 2025”. Para ello, la metodología de investigación fue de tipo básico, diseño no experimental, cuantitativo y de corte transversal; la población y muestra estuvo conformado por 91 pacientes adultos mayores centro geriátrico, Lima y como instrumentos de medición se utilizó el de Roland y Morris para medir la incapacidad física y Short Physical Performance Battery para medir la movilidad funcional. Los resultados mostraron que, el 76.9% de adultos mayores de centro geriátrico presentan una incapacidad fisca moderada, 22.0% leve y 1.1% severo y con relación a la movilidad funcional, el 34.1% presenta movilidad funcional moderada, 29.7% baja, 20.9% alta y 15.4% muy baja. Así mismo, se determinó que existe relación entre la incapacidad física por dolor lumbar y la movilidad funcional en adultos mayores que asisten a un centro geriátrico, Lima- 2025 (p*=0.0000). También se determinó que existe relación entre la incapacidad física por dolor lumbar y las dimensiones equilibrio, velocidad en marcha y fuerza de miembros inferiores en adultos mayores. Concluyendo que existe relación entre la incapacidad física por dolor lumbar y la movilidad funcional en adultos mayores.

The study aimed to “Determine the relationship between physical disability due to low back pain and functional mobility in older adults attending a geriatric center, Lima-2025.” To this end, the research methodology was basic, non-experimental, quantitative, and cross-sectional; the population and sample consisted of 91 older adult patients at a geriatric center in Lima, and the Roland and Morris scale was used to measure physical disability and the Short Physical Performance Battery to measure functional mobility. The results showed that 76.9% of older adults in geriatric centers have moderate physical disability, 22.0% have mild physical disability, and 1.1% have severe physical disability. In terms of functional mobility, 34.1% have moderate functional mobility, 29.7% have low functional mobility, 20.9% have high functional mobility, and 15.4% have very low functional mobility. Likewise, it was determined that there is a relationship between physical disability due to low back pain and functional mobility in older adults attending a geriatric center, Lima-2025 (p*=0.0000). It was also determined that there is a relationship between physical disability due to low back pain and the dimensions of balance, walking speed, and lower limb strength in older adults. In conclusion, there is a relationship between physical disability due to low back pain and functional mobility in older adults.
