Índice neutrófilo-linfocito como indicador pronóstico de mortalidad en pacientes con cáncer de ovario en el Hospital Caraz-Ancash, 2025

Abstract

Objetivos: Este estudio tiene como objetivo principal determinar la relación entre el índice neutrófilo/linfocito (INL) y la mortalidad en pacientes con cáncer de ovario atendidas en el Hospital Caraz, Ancash. Los objetivos específicos son establecer el valor de INL al inicio del tratamiento, calcularlo en pacientes fallecidos y sobrevivientes, y evaluar las diferencias en los valores de INL según los estadios del cáncer. Se busca validar el INL como un marcador pronóstico accesible que pueda ayudar en la estratificación del riesgo. Materiales: El estudio utilizará historias clínicas de mujeres diagnosticadas con cáncer de ovario entre 2022 y 2024. Los datos se extraerán de hemogramas completos, en los que se calculará el índice neutrófilo/linfocito (INL). Además, se utilizará una ficha de recolección de datos diseñada específicamente para este estudio, que incluirá variables como la edad, el estadio del cáncer, los tratamientos recibidos y las comorbilidades. El análisis se realizará con el software SPSS. Métodos: El estudio es cuantitativo, no experimental y de corte transversal. Se seleccionará una muestra de 132 pacientes mediante muestreo aleatorio simple. Se aplicarán análisis descriptivos (frecuencias, medias) y pruebas inferenciales (t de Student, Chi cuadrado, regresión logística) para evaluar la relación entre el INL y la mortalidad, ajustando por factores como la edad y el estadio del cáncer. Se espera que el INL sea validado como un marcador pronóstico accesible y útil en la mejora de la supervivencia de las pacientes.

The specific objectives are to establish the NLR value at the start of treatment, calculate it in deceased and surviving patients, and evaluate the differences in NLR values ​​according to cancer stage. The aim is to validate the NLR as an accessible prognostic marker that can aid in risk stratification. Materials: The study will use medical records of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer between 2022 and 2024. Data will be extracted from complete blood counts, in which the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) will be calculated. In addition, a data collection form specifically designed for this study will be used, which will include variables such as age, cancer stage, treatments received, and comorbidities. The analysis will be performed using SPSS software. Methods: The study is quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional. A sample of 132 patients will be selected using simple random sampling. Descriptive analyses (frequencies, means) and inferential tests (Student's t-test, chi-square test, logistic regression) will be applied to evaluate the relationship between the INL and mortality, adjusting for factors such as age and cancer stage. It is expected that the INL will be validated as an accessible and useful prognostic marker in improving patient survival.
