Impactación de las terceras molares inferiores y su relación con el espacio disponible para la erupción en pacientes en una Universidad Privada de Lima en 2023

Abstract

La impactación dental ocurre cuando un diente erupciona parcial o completamente y ejerce presión sobre otros dientes, huesos o tejidos blandos, impidiendo que se coloque en su posición original. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la relación entre la impactación de las terceras molares inferiores con el espacio disponible para la erupción en pacientes atendidos en una Universidad Privada de Lima en el año 2023. Se aplicó un método observacional, debido a que se busca resolver los diferentes problemas por medio de la observación de la muestra previamente seleccionada. Se analizaron 214 radiografías panorámicas digitales; luego se usó un instrumento tipo check list donde se anotaron los datos encontrados en las radiografías. Los resultados que se obtuvieron fueron: el mayor porcentaje de frecuencia del grado de impactación fue el tipo A en ambos lados y en ambos sexos; el espacio disponible de erupción tuvo la mayor frecuencia en el lado izquierdo el tipo I en mujeres y el tipo II en hombres; en el lado derecho la mayor frecuencia fue el tipo II en mujeres y el tipo I en hombres.

Dental impaction occurs when a tooth partially or completely erupts, exerting pressure on other teeth, bones, or soft tissues, preventing it from returning to its original position. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between impaction of lower third molars and the available space for eruption in patients treated at a private university in Lima in 2023. An observational method was used, as the goal was to solve different problems through observation of a previously selected sample. A total of 214 digital panoramic radiographs were analyzed; a checklist-type instrument was then used to record the data found in the radiographs. The results obtained were: the highest percentage of impaction degree frequency was type A on both sides and in both sexes; the available space for eruption was highest on the left side: type I in women and type II in men; on the right side, the highest frequency was type II in women and type I in men.
