Sobrecarga del cuidador y funcionalidad de la extremidad superior en niños con parálisis cerebral que asisten al Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño de San Borja – Lima, 2024

Abstract

La parálisis cerebral puede conllevar a diversos grados de limitación funcional en el niño, por lo que se requiere que alguien le preste asistencia de manera frecuente, a fin de que cumpla con sus actividades diarias, este rol es generalmente asumido por la madre quien, al no recibir remuneración alguna, recibe el nombre de cuidador primario informal. Es el cuidador primario informal quien asume la responsabilidad de la salud del niño, esto genera situaciones de desgaste físico y mental, que, al verse acumulados, terminan generando signos y síntomas que afectan su salud y su calidad de vida y por consecuente del niño a su lado.

Cerebral palsy can lead to varying degrees of functional limitations in children, requiring frequent assistance to help them with daily activities. This role is generally assumed by the mother, who, receiving no remuneration, is known as the informal primary caregiver. The informal primary caregiver bears the responsibility for the child's health, which can lead to physical and mental exhaustion. The cumulative effects of this strain can result in signs and symptoms that negatively impact the caregiver's health and quality of life, and consequently, the well-being of the child.
