Learning Styles And Levels Of Academic Performance In University Students' Capacity, In A Peruvian University In Lima - 2019

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between learning styles and levels of academic performance of courses in the area of Microbiology in the capacity of the undergraduated students of Clinical Laboratory and Pathological Anatomy of the Alas Peruanas University of the academic semester 2019 -1. For this, a basic research was carried out with a quantitative approach of correlational scope and non-experimental design. It was worked with a sample of 102 students to whom the Kolb Learning Styles Inventory was applied, finding that most of them (36.3%) have a preference for the Assimilator style, followed by the Accommodator style (26.5%), then the Convergent (20.6%) and finally in a smaller proportion (16.7%) are the students who prefer the Divergent style. All the data obtained were processed with the SPSS 26.0 application, and the Cramer's Coefficient was used for the hypothesis testing. Regarding the learning styles and the levels of academic performance, the test statistic V = 0.236 and the approximate significance of 0.049 were obtained, so it was concluded that the learning style has a weak relation with the level of academic performance of the students.

El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre los estilos de aprendizaje y los niveles del rendimiento académico de los cursos del área de Microbiología en la capacidad del estudiante universitario de Laboratorio Clínico y Anatomía Patológica de la Universidad Alas Peruanas del semestre académico 2019-1. Para ello se realizó una investigación de tipo básica con enfoque cuantitativo de alcance correlacional y diseño no experimental. Se trabajó con una muestra de 102 estudiantes a quienes se les aplicó el Inventario de Estilos de Aprendizaje de Kolb, encontrándose que la mayoría de ellos (36.3%) tienen preferencia por el estilo Asimilador, le sigue el estilo Acomodador (26.5%), luego el Convergente (20.6%) y finalmente en menor proporción (16.7%) están los estudiantes que prefieren el estilo Divergente. Todos los datos obtenidos fueron procesados con la aplicación SPSS 26.0, y para las pruebas de contrastación de hipótesis se usó el Coeficiente de Cramer. Con respecto a los estilos de aprendizaje y los niveles del rendimiento académico, se obtuvo el estadístico de prueba V = 0,236 y la significación aproximada de 0,049, por lo que se concluyó que el estilo de aprendizaje tiene una relación débil con el nivel de rendimiento académico de los estudiantes.
