Capacidad funcional básica e instrumental y calidad de vida en adultos mayores institucionalizados de la ciudad de Lima, 2025

Abstract

El envejecimiento poblacional en Lima ha incrementado la necesidad de servicios especializados para adultos mayores institucionalizados, cuya calidad de vida se ve afectada por limitaciones funcionales básicas e instrumentales, agravadas por la falta de recursos y programas adecuados en las instituciones, lo que subraya la urgencia de investigaciones y estrategias basadas en evidencia para mejorar su bienestar y autonomía. El objetivo es determinar la relación entre la capacidad funcional básica e instrumental (CFBI) y calidad de vida. El estudio será cuantitativo, observacional y de corte transversal. La muestra estará conformada por 98 participantes seleccionados aleatoriamente de la población total de 130 adultos mayores. Se utilizarán como instrumentos: Índice de Barthel (IB), el Índice de Lawton y Brody (ILB), y el cuestionario WHOQOL-BREF (CWB).

The aging population in Lima has increased the need for specialized services for institutionalized older adults, whose quality of life is affected by basic and instrumental functional limitations, exacerbated by a lack of resources and adequate programs in these institutions. This underscores the urgent need for evidence-based research and strategies to improve their well-being and autonomy. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between basic and instrumental functional capacity (BIFC) and quality of life. The study will be quantitative, observational, and cross-sectional. The sample will consist of 98 participants randomly selected from a total population of 130 older adults. The following instruments will be used: the Barthel Index (BI), the Lawton and Brody Index (LBI), and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire (WWQL).
