Plantas medicinales comercializadas en los mercados del Cono Norte de Lima, 2023

Abstract

This study employed a deductive method and a quantitative approach, of a basic type, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive design, through the application of 80 surveys. Dimensions considered included the most commercially traded plants, plant parts, therapeutic uses, supplying regions, knowledge and training of the vendors, and the nature of the plants. Results: The most commercially traded plants were Matricaria chamomilla (43.8%), Valeriana officinalis (21.2%), and Eucalyptus globulus (15.0%). The most sold plant parts were the whole plant, the root, and the leaves. The conditions that most required these plants were nervous (27.5%), digestive (26.3%), and respiratory (15.0%). The region that supplied the most to the markets was the highlands. Knowledge was mostly ancestral, with the internet as a source. of consultation. They knew about interactions with medications, but not about toxicity. Most of the plants were wild and fresh. Conclusions: Sustainable policies and research incentives are needed to promote the responsible use of these resources, which are so widely traded in Lima's markets, maximizing their therapeutic potential.

Este estudio empleó un método deductivo y enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo básico, diseño no experimental, corte transversal y alcance descriptivo mediante la aplicación de 80 encuestas. Se consideraron dimensiones como plantas más comercializadas, órganos, usos terapéuticos, regiones que proveen, conocimiento y formación de los comerciantes y naturaleza de las plantas. Resultados: Las plantas más comercializadas fueron Matricaria Chamomilla (43,8 %), Valeriana officinalis (21,2 %) y Eucalyptus Globulus (15,0 %). Los órganos más vendidos fueron la planta completa, la raíz y las hojas. Las afecciones que requirieron más estas plantas fueron las nerviosas (27,5 %), digestivas (26,3 %) y respiratorias (15,0 %). La región que más proveyó a los mercados fue la sierra. El conocimiento fue mayormente ancestral, con internet como fuente de consulta. Conocían sobre interacciones con medicamentos, pero no sobre toxicidad. La mayoría de las plantas fueron silvestres y frescas. Conclusiones: Se necesitan políticas sostenible e incentivos a la investigación para promover el uso responsable de estos recursos tan comercializados en los mercados de Lima, maximizando su potencial terapéutico.
