Riesgo de caídas y entornos en adultos mayores de un centro del adulto mayor, Lima 2024

Abstract

OBJETIVO: Determinar la relación entre el riesgo de caídas y los entornos en adultos mayores de un centro del adulto mayor en Lima, 2024. METODOLOGÍA Y MUESTRA: Estudio observacional, correlacional y de corte transversal con enfoque cuantitativo. Se trabajó con una muestra censal de 91 adultos mayores. INSTRUMENTOS: Se utilizó una encuesta para recopilar datos sociodemográficos y el Test de Tinetti para evaluar el riesgo de caídas. RESULTADOS: El 76.9% de los adultos mayores tenían un buen entorno, y el 71.4% presentó bajo riesgo de caídas. Se encontró una relación significativa entre el entorno y el riesgo de caídas (p < 0.005), así como con las dimensiones de equilibrio estático y dinámico. CONCLUSIÓN: Existe una relación significativa entre el riesgo de caídas y el entorno en adultos mayores, lo que resalta la importancia de mejorar los espacios para reducir este riesgo.

METHODOLOGY AND SAMPLE: Observational, correlational, and cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. A census sample of 91 older adults was used. INSTRUMENTS: A survey was used to collect sociodemographic data and the Tinetti Test to assess the risk of falls. RESULTS: 76.9% of older adults had a good environment, and 71.4% had a low risk of falls. A significant relationship was found between the environment and the risk of falls (p < 0.005), as well as with the dimensions of static and dynamic balance. CONCLUSION: There is a significant relationship between the risk of falls and the environment in older adults, which highlights the importance of improving spaces to reduce this risk.
