Efectividad de una intervención educativa sobre conocimientos del cáncer oral en pacientes del consultorio dental “Dientecito” del distrito de Puente Piedra, Lima 2021

Abstract

El objetivo del estudio fue en determinar la efectividad de una intervención educativa sobre conocimientos del cáncer oral en pacientes del consultorio dental “Dientecito” del distrito de Puente Piedra, Lima 2021. Investigación cuantitativa de diseño cuasiexperimental y longitudinal. 80 pacientes fueron la muestra, divididos 40 en el grupo control y 40 en el grupo experimental, en los que se aplicó el pretest y postest del cuestionario sobre cáncer oral. La contrastación de las hipótesis se efectuó con las pruebas no paramétricas de U de Mann Whitney, y el Test de Wilcoxon. Los resultados reflejaron que, efectuada la intervención educativa sobre el cáncer oral en el grupo experimental, el nivel de conocimiento malo del 92.5% en el pretest, mejoró a bueno en el 65% y regular en el 35% de los pacientes. En las dimensiones del cáncer oral, el conocimiento igual mejoró: En generalidades, de malo en el 67.5% a regular en el 85% y un 15% bueno; en factores de riesgo, de malo en el 90% a bueno en el 75% y regular en el 20%; sobre signos y síntomas, de malo en el 82.5% a bueno en el 65% y regular en el 30%; sobre las repercusiones, de malo en el 90% a bueno en el 47.5% y regular en el 35%; y sobre prevención del cáncer oral, de malo en el 92.5% a bueno en el 85% y regular en el 15% de los pacientes. A la prueba de hipótesis, la aplicación de la intervención educativa fue efectiva significativamente en mejorar el conocimiento del paciente sobre las generalidades, factores de riesgo, signos y síntomas, repercusiones y sobre prevención del cáncer oral (sig <0.05). Se concluye, que la aplicación de la intervención educativa sobre el cáncer oral fue efectiva significativamente en mejorar el conocimiento de los pacientes (sig <0.05).

The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge of oral cancer in patients of the "Dientecito" dental office in the Puente Piedra district, Lima 2021. Quantitative research of quasi-experimental and longitudinal design. 80 patients were the sample, divided into 40 in the control group and 40 in the experimental group, in which the pretest and posttest of the oral cancer questionnaire were applied. The contrast of the hypotheses was carried out with the nonparametric tests of U of Mann Whitney, and the Wilcoxon Test. The results showed that, once the educational intervention on oral cancer was carried out in the experimental group, the level of poor knowledge of 92.5% in the pretest improved to good in 65% and fair in 35% of the patients. In the dimensions of oral cancer, knowledge still improved: In general, from bad in 67.5% to regular in 85% and 15% good; in risk factors, from bad in 90% to good in 75% and regular in 20%; about signs and symptoms, from bad in 82.5% to good in 65% and regular in 30%; about the repercussions, from bad in 90% to good in 47.5% and regular in 35%; and on prevention of oral cancer, from bad in 92.5% to good in 85% and fair in 15% of patients. To test the hypothesis, the application of the educational intervention was significantly effective in improving the patient's knowledge about generalities, risk factors, signs and symptoms, repercussions, and prevention of oral cancer (sig <0.05). It is concluded that the application of the educational intervention on oral cancer was significantly effective in improving the knowledge of patients (sig <0.05).
