Correlación de la edad cronológica y edad dental estimada mediante el método Cameriere en una población subadulta peruana, 2024

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la correlación entre la edad cronológica (EC) y la edad dental (ED) estimada mediante el método Cameriere en una muestra de subadultos peruanos, 2024. El método empleado fue descriptivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo de investigación básica; además, transversal, observacional y prospectivo, y de diseño descriptivo no experimental correlacional. La población estuvo constituida por 170 radiografías panorámicas de subadultos de 6 a 15 años, que asistieron al consultorio Dental Aguirre – Rx Mezzich, Santiago de Surco; y mediante un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia se determinó la muestra, siendo de 150 radiografías panorámicas y que además cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. La técnica usada fue la observación y el instrumento fue una Ficha de Recolección de Datos, cuya confiabilidad se estableció mediante el Índice de Kappa. Resultados, se determinó que la EC media y ED de la muestra fue de 10.99 y 10.52 años, respectivamente; con una diferencia de medias de 0.47 años. Hubo una relación positiva, muy fuerte y significativa entre la ED y EC (Rho=0.956, p=0.000); observándose en mayoría más casos de rangos negativos (ED<EC). Ambos sexos mostraron una correlación entre la EC y ED; sin embargo, según los rangos de edades (6 a 15 años) no mostraron correlaciones significativas (p>0.05). Conclusión, Existe correlación significativa entre la EC y ED estimada por el método Cameriere, mostrando en mayoría una subestimación de la edad (p=0.000).

The aim of the research was to determine the correlation between chronological age (CA) and dental age (DA) estimated using the Cameriere method in a sample of Peruvian sub-adults, 2024. The method used was descriptive, quantitative approach, basic research type; also, cross-sectional, observational and prospective, and descriptive non-experimental correlational design. The population consisted of 170 panoramic radiographs of sub-adults from 6 to 15 years old, who attended the Dental Aguirre - Rx Mezzich office, Santiago de Surco; and through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, the sample was determined, being 150 panoramic radiographs that also met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The technique used was observation and the instrument was a Data Collection Form, whose reliability was established using the Kappa Index. Results: The mean CD and DD of the sample were determined to be 10.99 and 10.52 years, respectively, with a mean difference of 0.47 years. There was a very strong, positive, and significant relationship between DD and CD (Rho=0.956, p=0.000); the majority observed more cases of negative ranges (DD<CD). Both sexes showed a correlation between CD and DD; however, according to age ranges (6 to 15 years), no significant correlations were found (p>0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between CD and DD estimated by the Cameriere method, with the majority showing an underestimation of age (p=0.000).
