Discapacidad funcional y calidad de vida en pacientes con dolor lumbar de un policlínico, Ate, 2025

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la relación entre la discapacidad funcional provocada por el dolor lumbar y la calidad de vida en un grupo de 132 pacientes atendidos en el Policlínico Misión Salud de Ate durante el año 2025. Se utilizó un enfoque cuantitativo con el método hipotético-deductivo, en un diseño no experimental de tipo correlacional y corte transversal. La muestra fue seleccionada mediante un muestreo no probabilístico de tipo censal. Para medir la discapacidad funcional se empleó el Índice de Discapacidad de Oswestry (ODI), y para evaluar la calidad de vida se utilizó el cuestionario WHOQOL-BREF de la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Los resultados mostraron que el 49.2 % de los participantes presentaron una discapacidad funcional grave, el 37.9 % moderada y el 9.1 % muy grave. En cuanto a la calidad de vida, el 50 % reportó un nivel bajo, el 31.1 % medio y el 18.9 % alto. Al analizar la relación entre ambas variables, se encontró una correlación negativa moderada (rho = -0.146), aunque sin significancia estadística (p = 0.096). En las dimensiones de la calidad de vida, el bienestar físico fue el más afectado, con un 73.5 % de los participantes en nivel bajo. Además, se identificó una correlación negativa moderada y significativa entre la discapacidad funcional y el bienestar psicológico (rho = -0.58, p < 0.01). En conclusión, estos resultados sugieren que el dolor lumbar impacta tanto la salud física como la mental, subrayando la importancia de un enfoque terapéutico integral.

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between functional disability caused by lumbar pain and quality of life in a group of 132 patients attended at the Misión Salud Polyclinic in Ate during the year 2025. A quantitative approach was used with the hypothetical deductive method, in a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The sample was selected using a non-probabilistic, census-type sampling method. The functional disability was measured using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and quality of life was assessed with the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire developed by the World Health Organization. The results showed that 49.2% of participants had severe functional disability, 37.9% moderate, and 9.1% very severe. Regarding quality of life, 50% reported a low level, 31.1% a medium level, and 18.9% a high level. When analyzing the relationship between both variables, a moderate negative correlation (rho = -0.146) was found, although it was not statistically significant (p = 0.096). In terms of quality of life dimensions, physical well-being was the most affected, with 73.5% of participants reporting low levels. Additionally, a moderate and statistically significant negative correlation was identified between functional disability and psychological well-being (rho = -0.58, p < 0.01). In conclusion, these results suggest that lumbar pain impacts both physical and mental health, highlighting the importance of an integrated therapeutic approach.
