Seropositividad al citomegalovirus y seguridad transfusional en donantes del Hospital III EsSalud Chimbote, 2025

Abstract

Objetivo: El presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre la seropositividad al citomegalovirus (CMV) y la seguridad transfusional en donantes atendidos en el Hospital III EsSalud Chimbote durante el año 2025. La investigación surge ante la necesidad de contar con información actualizada sobre la prevalencia del CMV en donantes de sangre, considerando el riesgo potencial que representa para poblaciones vulnerables, como neonatos, pacientes inmunocomprometidos y receptores de trasplantes. Asimismo, busca aportar evidencia útil para fortalecer la seguridad transfusional y orientar futuras estrategias de tamizaje y reducción de riesgos. Métodos: La investigación se desarrollará bajo el método hipotético deductivo, permitiendo formular y contrastar hipótesis sobre la relación entre la seropositividad al CMV y variables vinculadas a la seguridad transfusional. Se adoptará un enfoque cuantitativo, basado en la recolección y análisis de datos numéricos. El estudio será de tipo básico y de nivel descriptivo correlacional, ya que describirá la frecuencia de anticuerpos IgG e IgM frente al CMV y analizará su asociación con factores como sexo, edad y tipo de donación. Además, tendrá un diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional, recolectando información en un único momento sin manipulación de variables.

Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between cytomegalovirus (CMV) seropositivity and transfusion safety in donors treated at Hospital III EsSalud Chimbote during 2025. The research arises from the need for updated information on CMV prevalence in blood donors, considering the potential risk it represents for vulnerable populations, such as neonates, immunocompromised patients, and transplant recipients. It also seeks to provide useful evidence to strengthen transfusion safety and guide future screening and risk reduction strategies. Methods: The research will be conducted using the hypothetico-deductive method, allowing for the formulation and testing of hypotheses about the relationship between CMV seropositivity and variables related to transfusion safety. A quantitative approach will be adopted, based on the collection and analysis of numerical data. The study will be basic and descriptive-correlational, as it will describe the frequency of IgG and IgM antibodies against CMV and analyze their association with factors such as sex, age, and type of donation. Furthermore, it will have a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design, collecting data at a single point in time without manipulating variables.
