| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Diabetes mellitus II is a metabolic disease characterized by persistent hyperglycemia due to defective insulin action. Objective: Determine the correlation between serum glucose levels and hematological indices in patients with diabetes mellitus II in a clinical laboratory, 2026. Methodology: The research is quantitative, applied, not correlational experimental. 109 blood samples were analyzed for serum glucose analysis and hematological indices. The descriptive analysis of the research variables was carried out, such as the analysis of central tendency (median) and dispersion (interquartile) data. Normal distribution analysis (Shapiro Wilk) and Spearman correlation will also be performed according to the research objectives. Results: Spearman correlation coefficients in serum glucose levels and hematological indices. were a negative correlation, although not significant, with hemoglobin (Spearman = -0.18; p-value = 0.39) and hematocrit (Spearman = -0.16; p-value = 0.41). In contrast, the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), a moderate and significant positive correlation was observed (Spearman = 0.45; p-value = 0.70). On the other hand, the platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) presented a weak negative correlation (Spearman = -0.12; p-value = 0.70) without statistical significance. Conclusion: Hyperglycemia is mainly linked to alterations in the white series, in NLR, rather than changes in the red or platelet series. Therefore, it has relevant clinical implications, since NLR is a derivative of a routine blood count and could be considered as a routine biomarker in diabetic patients. | en_US |
