Calidad de vida y estado cognitivo en pacientes adultos mayores de un centro de terapia física de Lima, periodo 2024

Abstract

Determinar la relación entre la calidad de vida y estado cognitivo en pacientes adultos mayores de un centro de terapia física de Lima, periodo 2024. Materiales y Métodos: Pacientes adultos mayores de 60 años de edad a más, de ambos sexos, tipo aplicado de nivel correlacional, de enfoque cuantitativo, se utilizó los instrumentos “cuestionario de calidad de vida (whoqol - bref)” y “mini mental state examination (mmse)”. Resultados: El grupo con edades entre 75 y 79 años representa el 30.77%. El grupo de 70 a 74 años representa el 29.06%. El grupo de 65 a 69 años representa el 21.37%. El grupo de 60 a 64 años representa el 9.40%. El grupo de 80 años a más representa también el 9.40%, hay una ligera mayoría el género masculino, con un 52.14%, mientras que el 47.86% está conformado por personas del género femenino, se aprecia una prevalencia mayoritaria del nivel moderado, con un 43.59% del total de la muestra. El 44.44% de los pacientes poseen una función cognitiva moderada. El 29.91% posee un nivel de función cognitiva severo. El 17.09% posee una función cognitiva leve. El 8.55% posee una función cognitiva conservada. la dimensión medio ambiente de la calidad de vida. El 48.72% posee un nivel moderado. El 37.61% posee un nivel muy bajo. El 13.68% posee un nivel alto. se observa que la relación entre la calidad de vida y estado cognitivo es significativa (p = 0.000 < 0.05); así mismo, el coeficiente de Spearman es 0.703, la relación entre la dimensión salud física de la calidad de vida y la variable estado cognitivo es significativa (p = 0.000 < 0.05); así mismo, el coeficiente de Spearman es 0.545 Conclusiones: La muestra está representada por una ligera mayoría el género masculino, según el estado cognitivo de los pacientes el mayor porcentaje de los pacientes poseen una función cognitiva moderada.

Determine the relationship between quality of life and cognitive status in elderly patients at a physical therapy center in Lima, 2024 period.

Materials and Methods: Elderly patients aged 60 years and older, of both genders, applied type with a correlational level, quantitative approach. The instruments used were the "Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF)" and the "Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)."

Results: The group aged 75 to 79 years represents 30.77%. The group aged 70 to 74 years represents 29.06%. The group aged 65 to 69 years represents 21.37%. The group aged 60 to 64 years represents 9.40%. The group aged 80 years and older also represents 9.40%. There is a slight majority of males, with 52.14%, while 47.86% are females. A majority prevalence of the moderate level is observed, with 43.59% of the total sample.

44.44% of patients have moderate cognitive function. 29.91% have severe cognitive function. 17.09% have mild cognitive function. 8.55% have preserved cognitive function. Regarding the environmental dimension of quality of life, 48.72% have a moderate level. 37.61% have a very low level. 13.68% have a high level.

It is observed that the relationship between quality of life and cognitive status is significant (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Likewise, the Spearman coefficient is 0.703. The relationship between the physical health dimension of quality of life and the cognitive status variable is significant (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Likewise, the Spearman coefficient is 0.545.

Conclusions: The sample is represented by a slight majority of males. According to the cognitive status of the patients, the largest percentage has moderate cognitive function.
