| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between psychological status and bruxism in adult patients attending the Sonrisas Totales dental clinic, Independencia, 2026. The research followed a quantitative approach, applied type, correlational level, nonexperimental design, and cross-sectional scope, using the hypothetical-deductive method. The population consisted of 140 patients, from which a sample of 102 participants was obtained through non-probabilistic consecutive sampling. Data collection was carried out using the DASS-21 questionnaire to assess psychological status (depression, anxiety, and stress) and a clinical observation form based on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine criteria to evaluate the level of bruxism. For statistical analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was applied, determining the use of non-parametric tests. Consequently, Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed a very high and statistically significant positive relationship between psychological status and bruxism (Rho=0.943; p<0.05). Additionally, significant relationships were found between anxiety (Rho=0.937), stress (Rho=0.941), and depression (Rho=0.935) with bruxism levels. In conclusion, as psychological distress increases, the severity of bruxism also rises among the evaluated patients, confirming the research hypothesis and highlighting the importance of an integral approach in dental practice. | en_US |
