Apnea obstructiva del sueño en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 del Centro de Salud Ciudad Satélite, Junín – 2025

Abstract

La prevalencia de apnea obstructiva del sueño (AOS) en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es significativamente mayor en comparación con la población general, un metaanálisis reportó que los casos de AOS moderada a severa se asocian con un incremento del 63% en el riesgo de desarrollar diabetes tipo 2 (DM2). Por ello, representa un desafío prioritario para los sistemas de salud a nivel global. Objetivo: Determinar el riesgo de apnea obstructiva del sueño en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 del Centro de Salud Ciudad Satélite, Junín - 2025. Material y métodos: Tipo de investigación básico; diseño no experimental, método deductivo y transversal; enfoque cuantitativo; la muestra estuvo compuesta por 74 participantes que asisten al Centro de Salud Ciudad Satélite, utilizo el cuestionario STOPBang. Los resultados: Se evidencia que el riesgo de apnea obstructiva del sueño es alto (55,4%) en pacientes con DM2. Conclusión: se concluye que los participantes presentaron un riesgo elevado de AOS, lo que sugiere una considerable frecuencia de esta alteración en la población estudiada y resalta la necesidad de fortalecer las estrategias de tamizaje y manejo oportuno.

The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is significantly higher compared to the general population. A meta-analysis reported that moderate to severe OSA cases are associated with a 63% increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D). Therefore, it represents a priority challenge for healthcare systems globally. Objective: To determine the risk of obstructive sleep apnea in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Ciudad Satélite Health Center, Junín - 2025. Materials and methods: This was an essential research study with a non-experimental, deductive, and cross-sectional design. A quantitative approach was used. The sample consisted of 74 participants attending the Ciudad Satélite Health Center, and the STOPBang questionnaire was used. Results: The study found that the risk of obstructive sleep apnea is high (55.4%) in patients with T2D. Conclusion: Participants were found to have an elevated risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), suggesting a considerable prevalence of this disorder in the studied population and highlighting the need to strengthen screening strategies and ensure timely management.
