| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Adolescence is a period of human development characterized by physical, emotional, and social changes that affect psychological well-being. In this context, the family serves as the most important source of emotional and social support, which directly influences the development of self-esteem. Objective: To determine the relationship between family functioning and self-esteem among high school adolescents at an educational institution. Methodology: Applied research, quantitative methods, non-experimental design, correlation, and cross-sectional analysis. The study population consisted of 80 students. The FACES III Family Functioning Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, which are valid and reliable instruments, were used. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 27, employing descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rho coefficient. Results: 63.7% of the adolescents had average family functioning, and 35.0% had average self-esteem. Furthermore, a moderate, significant positive correlation was found between family functioning and self-esteem (Rho = 0.654; p<0.001). The adaptability dimension showed a moderate positive correlation with self-esteem (Rho = 0.555; p<0.001), while cohesion showed a low positive correlation (Rho = 0.342; p<0.002). Conclusion: Self-esteem and family functioning are significantly related. This indicates that positive family dynamics help adolescents become emotionally stronger. | en_US |
