Relación del ángulo gonial y altura de la rama mandibular para identificación del sexo en radiografías panorámicas en una universidad privada de Lima, 2023

Abstract

El presente estudio buscó determinar la relación entre el ángulo gonial y altura de la rama mandibular para identificación del sexo en radiografías panorámicas en una Universidad privada de Lima, 2023. Se elaboró una investigación cuantitativo, aplicado, no experimental, transversal con alcance relacional; se analizaron 152 radiografías panorámicas de pacientes almacenadas en la base de datos, utilizando una ficha de recolección de datos mediante la observación de radiografías, se registró sexo, ángulo gonial y altura de la rama mandibular del lado derecho. Se pudo evidenciar que hubo una pertenencia de grupo para el sexo femenino de 71,3 % (67) y para el sexo masculino de 70,7 % (41); el 71.1% de los casos agrupados originalmente se clasificaron correctamente. Al relacionar el ángulo gonial y altura de la rama mandibular con el sexo determinado se evidenció que el p valor fue (0.000<0.05) indicando relación entre las variables, asimismo el coeficiente de correlación del ángulo gonial fue de - 0,241(correlación negativa débil) y de 0,841 para la altura de la rama (correlación positiva fuerte). Se concluye que existe relación entre el ángulo gonial y la altura de la rama mandibular para la identificación del sexo en radiografías panorámicas en una Universidad privada de Lima, 2023 siendo una correlación negativa débil entre el ángulo gonial y el sexo y una correlación positiva fuerte entre la altura de la rama mandibular y el sexo.

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between gonial angle and mandibular ramus height for sex identification in panoramic radiographs at a private university in Lima, 2023. A quantitative, applied, non-experimental, cross-sectional study with relational scope was designed; 152 panoramic radiographs of patients stored in the database were analysed, using a data collection form through observation of the radiographs, sex, gonial angle and height of the mandibular ramus on the right side were recorded. It could be seen that there was a group membership for the female sex of 71.3 % (67) and for the male sex of 70.7 % (41); 71.1 % of the originally grouped cases were correctly classified. When relating the gonial angle and height of the mandibular ramus with the sex determined, it was found that the p value was (0.000<0.05) indicating a relationship between the variables, likewise the correlation coefficient for the gonial angle was -0.241 (weak negative correlation) and 0.841 for the height of the ramus (strong positive correlation). It is concluded that there is a relationship between the gonial angle and the height of the mandibular ramus for the identification of sex in panoramic radiographs in a private university in Lima, 2023 with a weak negative correlation between the gonial angle and sex and a strong positive correlation between the height of the mandibular ramus and sex.
